i would like to replace the old vmax 121 skid with a more modern one . what would be likely canidates. year and type of sled would be appreciated. what one would be the less for mods, etc. thanks in advance . i like this site its cool. p.s. if i replace the skid im going to see if the old one will fit under my 1979 440 kawasiki intruder.its a cool sled but hard on the old back.

I would look for a skid from a viper or sxr and then look for front shocks from a 96 vmax 600xt this would be a major improvment!!!

or go for a polaris xtra-12 out of an xlt....they ride sweet and are cheap to find!

One drawback to the xtra -12 it is extra heavy. Personally I would look for a plaris edge suspension. It is relatively easy to do the swap if you can get mounting hole locations from donor sled. I put a 2000 venture 600 skid in my 94 Vmax 600 ST 136" in about 6 or 7 hours.

I puy an 03 RX1 skid under my 95 Vmax 600 this year. It has made a huge difference in ride quality, I know how brutal the stock skid is. Any way, there is some good info on how to do this in the tech section. I didn't really lose any top end either still topping out at about 95-100. I didn't replace the front struts, they are a bit soft, but that's ok with me, I was trying to make the sled a plush trail cruiser and I think I've done just that. Now if I could only figure out why it's sucking down so much gas this year.....

I will be taking pics, another member wanted some pics as well, with limited snow I haven't gone up north to where I keep the sleds. Next time I get up there (hopefully this weekend) I will get some pics and post for you guys.
