2001 SRX or any year V-MAX 4?

..I would lean towards the SRX because parts are easier to find, the v-Maxes are older so parts for them are getting harder and harder to find..

Good point. From my experience with the VX800, I have had absolutely no trouble finding parts, new and used, and the used parts are usually cheaper than SRX parts - probably because there is not that much demand. I think I have had 4 of these sleds so far and easily have replacements on hand for about anything. Toughest used parts to get are probably drive gears and the chain as it is totally unique and no aftermarket stuff is available. Yamaha has about anything you need also - for a price.

nice looking sled, love that blue, and yes its true that its hard to find parts but not impossable new or used.

p.s wildmax if i do get the vmax, and if i do need any parts could you possiblely hook me up? ;)!
just wondering.

Thanks

Easy - Go to vmax4.com (website). You might have to sign up but its free. Just post something like "looking for a Vmax4" in the general discussion and you'll probably have some pretty good offers or leads on sleds and parts. There usually are quite a few sleds for sale in your area or within a short drive.

Go for a VX800 (95 or 96). 97 is tough to find (but I just sold one). Usually available for $2000 to $3000 tops for good ones.

awesome thanks ill do that as soon as i buy one, either a 95 or 96 is what im looking for anyway so it shouldn't be diffilcult.

Thanks

Hey, I'm not trying to sell you on a VX800 over a SRX - the SRX is a great sled and it just depends on what you want to do. BUT if you are looking at VX800, I see one just listed on Ebay that someone has put some heavy $$$$ into. Its in your neck of the woods. Just says "Yamaha" on the listing, its a yellow custom job. Also, a couple of others on there that will probably go cheap.

v-max4 unreliable?????? dont think so, it might not be the best for suspension but it is damm reliable....seen v4's with 20,000km+ on stock motors, they are like small car motors, treat them right and they will last you a long time!

for a flat out lake racer go with the 4 banger.but for reliabilty, better trail sled, better suspension,& still have a fast sled then go with the srx, much better all around catagory sled. & when it gets stuck it will be easier to get out then the v-max

no im not saying there not relaible..i see i may have worded that wrong but i guess im trying to say something like better fuel econonmy, oil consumtion & along the lines of not leaving you stranded on the side of a trail for sumthing stupid like gas. my father owned a 93 750 & i picked up a 96 800 for $900 with a leather suit from a buddy that was going through a ruff time. at the same time i had the srx & always perferred to take that but thats my own choice.dont get me wrong here though i did drive it & when i did i loved throwing roosters at everybody behind me.( man the more i think about it the more i miss it) but then i think i payed 900 & sold it 2900 & kept the leathers.
