87 Exciter LT mod ideas needed

I'll be the proud owner this 87 next weekend. I'm riding mostly at 7-11k feet in a mix of powder and trails.

Whatdya guys got for me for ideas? I know it won't be the rocket my 700 Vmax is, but what can I do to assure some good reliability and make it more off trail/mountain worthy?

Adding a pipe will boost power significanlty. Quite a few people have them on these machines, but you have to adjust your jetting, and even clutches. Some people say when you start modifying anything with the engine, you loose some reliability.
Other non-engine modifications include new sliders, and new bearings in all idler/bogy wheels to reduce as much friction as possible. Track tension should be adjusted properly to get maximum performance. Keep the carbs clean, fresh gas, good quality oil, and mabe even NGK Iriddium plugs.

id say new track with 1"-1.5" paddles if it fits, plastic skis and clutch it accordingly. wont be a speed deamon but it will still be going at the end of the day.

I'm planning on a new track, 1.5 or 1.75 if I can stuff it in there. Does C&A make bridges that'll fit this sled? How different from the Proaction suspension are the mounting spindles?

As for the rack, most of my riding will be out and back, no gas stations in sight. The one on the sled does look too big. I'm going to try to see if I can get a custom aluminum one made up, single bar with two mounting points on each side., maybe with an LED taillight fabed on. Either that or take it off completely and just put some tie down strap points on the tunnel top.
