this stuff does smell nice, it works great in mild temperatures, is fully synthetic (I think), and it claims to have a pour point of minus 57 degrees celcius....
however..
this stuff nearly left me stranded up north at our remote cabin.... Temp went down to -35 C (30 below F) on Friday night and warmed up to -29 C (22 below F) on Saturday morning... I could not pull the recoil rope out one foot... There was no way, no how, to turn the engine over... I removed the three plugs to try and loosen things up and pulled over several times and still, there was no way I could pull that engine over fast enough to start it.... (weigh 235 and 6 ft tall)...
(ended up using light bulbs as heat lamps and covered it for three hours)
This stuff is so sticky at low temps it becomes hazardous for our environment... Noticed it being HARD to pull at -20 C (5 below F) some weeks ago but never thought it would be like this...
Pumping the Ipone out tonight and putting Yamalube back in... Never have had trouble starting with Yamalube...
Sled was 02 MM700 (absolutely stock)..
For all who experience real cold temperatures...

I had the same problem with Yamalube several years ago at around 5 to 10 below f. I'd say at 22 below, they will all pull hard. Maxdlx

I've started my sled with Yamalube at minus 22 F many times before... For a good part of the winter we can experience these kinds of temperatures...
Yes, at minus 20 F they all get hard to pull but never have I been unable to pull my recoil chord out without breaking the mechanism...
Too far north, I suppose...

Now that you mention this, I was pre mixing a couple of jerry cans of gas last week. I poured one with the amsoil interceptor oil and one with the ipone oil. It was about -28c outside and the amsoil defiantely poured alot better then the ipone.

im running ipone in mine and had no trouble starting it at -27celcius on sat am. with wind chill it was almost -40.
actaully i was scared it wasnt gonna start. was pulling over a little too easy and when it did that last year it took 30 min with micro furnace blowing against the jugs to get it warm enough to fire.

Miam, I see you own twins, only?.... perhaps the tripple I was pulling had something to do with it.... the 500 was there too and started right away, but, I hadn't converted it to Ipone yet... Still has Yamalube in it...

TJ, last winter i was out overnight in -43. i took the belt off to keep it warm, and in the morning with my sleigh still hooked up i was pulling the whole works backwards before the recoil would even move. I use shell advance oil. i think it is just the nature of the the tripple cylinder to be hard to pull over while cold.

No not because Maim owns twins. I have 2 tripples using IPONE started them on Sat and Sun very cold here about -25c and no problems at all.
My SXR700 hardly smokes anymore and does not smell using IPONE.

No problem here. My valves do not gum up like they did with Yami lube.
This past weekend -37, had np problem pulling over my Venture..I pulled it over 4 to 5 times with the key off just to make sure it was loosened up then I used the electric start...Started right up!!! I use Yamaha lube ....

One trick Ive tried from another thread on cold starts... When you're done riding for the night instead of using the kill switch or key to shut down, choke it until it dies out.Seems to pull over easier the next day.

that won't foul your plugs?
here my 2 cents from this weekend. Had klotz in and first morning it was -20, sled started just like it was +30. Rn it till the oil light came on and switched to Ipone. Morning 3 was -19, and sled started just as good. It smokes way less at start up on the Ipone, than klotz, and smells better too. I will continue to use these 2 oils only as long as I have 2 strokes. Maxdlx
I have been running ipone in a 66' Vespa for 3 years. These are single cylinder air cooled 2 stroke engines. Originally the Vespa called for a 5% fuel oil mix. With ipone synthetic, it only requires 2%, and these engines will soft ceaze if you look at em wrong. Can't speak for the subzero temperature drop in Colorado, but I know my engine is happy.

i noticed alot less smoke as well with Ipone. My VMax has Ipone and my SXR is running regular two stroke oil till rings break in. My SXR stinks and smokes compared to the Vmax.
