blowing the belt at 1000 mi?

I only had about 1000 mi. on the belt. I put an expert x on about the same time i changed the belt. Is this normal for the belt to go at only 1000 mi? how long does a belt usually last? could the aggressive riding with the expert make a difference? thanks.
 
thast around normal. its good to change ur belt around then. if teh belt gets to think it can slip cause to much heat and cuase stress fraturs in ur primary. also like em if it gets to thin it can go to far down on the secondary an rip of one of teh arms on teh iner sheve. id say replace ur belt at the beginging of every year or 1000 miles.
 
I get at least 2000 miles out of belt considering they are 55 plus bucks a piece. Although there is nothing like a brand new belt. You can really feel the power difference.
 
1000 miles is WAY low for a yamaha belt. What belt are you running? If you are running the 8DN and only getting 1000 miles you got something wrong there. How is your alignment, center to center, and clutch temps? What are you running for clutching and in what sled? Also check motor mounts. Seen them broken before and the people would never even know it.

hmm, seems like alot of factors can play in on this. Actually i think I have alot less than 1000 miles. i will have to look at all the things yamahaholic has suggested. how do you get clutch temp? is there a way to check alignment without a special tool? I'm running the stock clutch setup and the dayco 8dn. the expert suspension wouldn't contribute to any of this would it? thanks again.
 
Out west we ride off trail all day long in deep powder, and the belt I am running now has over 3000km on it and it still looks new. My buddy has 4000km on his.

1000km is way too low

What is the Dayco 8DN? 8DN is a yamah part number, dayco's are the ultimax 2 and ultimax 3 or whatever. Stock clutch setup might be giving you a lot of heat. You should easily be able to touch your clutches and keep your hand on them after a normal trail ride. If they are too hot to touch, they are inefficient. Need the alignment and offset tools to make that job much easier. Could do it with straight edges and VERY careful measurement, but in my opinion the tools are WELL worth it. No the expert isn't gonna cause it.
