M7 skid in 01 MM700?

I have an 01 MM700, with bender pipes, air box mod and head gasket mod, I want to put a longer track on it and was wondering if anyone has put an M7 skid under a MM? If so is it lighter and will the suspension be better? Any advise would help, thanks.
 
it will be a ton lighter, but you should also run extroverts with it. they need a loose track to prevent track binding.
 
It save's 16 to 20 pound's depending on your current suspension and what bracket's you use. It saved 18 pounds on my Viper. Angle of attack is much better, and there is more weight transfer with the Cat skid.
You can use standard driver's, the skid tighten's the track as it compresses. With the M7 series skid's use Holz brackets for the front arm mount. They relocate the front arm mount to the top of the rails, like the 1M skids have, and it cure's the binding concern's.
 
Thanks guys all very helpful, c-bolt did you make new drop brackets out of Aluminum flat plate and rivet them to the tunnel? I was looking at the pictures and that's what it looked like. If I can find a cheap M7 skid like you did, it would for sure be the cheapest 20lb weight loss around!!
 
yep, drop brackets are 1/4 aluminum, T-7075 i think....

i also used a thin piece of aluminum sheet metal behind them, between the heat exchangers and the tunnel reinforcements so i wouldnt have the gap between them.
