I have a 2000 Venture 600..I have had this problem since December..Sometimes it does not happen...I start the sled up the high coolant light comes on right away then it might go off after warming the sled up, I go to take off the sled back fires the when I am at about 25-30kms 5000rpm the sled starts the miss..if I slow down sometimes it will backfire,,I disconnected the coolant sensor and the light still comes on every once in a while..At times I will be riding at 60 mph and the sled will die...When I come to a stop it will fire up right away..I can go days without this happening, then a little ride all it does is backfire ,miss and stall...I have disconnected the TORS, checked for a bad wire..Drained the gas and put fresh stuff in...I can not nail this one cold or hot weather, long short rides does not matter..Someone help !!!!!I don't know what to do next I am scared I am going to be riding with my kids and the machine is going to die and that's it..Could it be my CDI?????? HELP!!!!

Check the part of the wiring harness that goes under the motor.
Clean The Carbs
I cleaned and checked the carbs all looked good, I checked the wiring underneath the motor I couldn't find any bad wires..I am wondering if it's my CDI or my stator...How do I check them to see if they are working properly??????I just went out to check a few things no the sled will idle fine but when the high coolent light comes on the sled will stall ..The sled is still ice cold when it comes on...
Is this supposed to happen ???Something is going on, the light will come on and the sled will stall even if the sensor in unhooked, what is the relationship between the high coolent light and the running of the sled????? Someone help Please ???? Supposed to go for a big ride this weekend but if I can't figure this out I will stuck at home ......

just curious....does the collant light stay "constant on"....or is it flashing?
Both, somtimes it will stay on for a while 10 min and sometimes it will flash then go out, sometimes it will flash several times....
