I got a new gauge module from Yamaha under warrenty for my 04 Viper.
The dealer said that I could go ahead and install it myself rather than bring the sled in, which sounded like a good idea at the time.
After fighting with the three self tapping screws, I removed the gauge from the sled and "tapped" the three post with the screws on the work bench in order to ease the installation.
Now the gauge is back on the sled, but I'm having a heck of a time getting the screws firm due to a lack of working space. I've tried stubby screwdrivers, long shafts, offset and a rachet. With the rachet, I made good progress but the right side is still pretty floppy. I realize that there will be some play because of the rubber isolators, but feel that there is still too much.
So I want to tighten a bit more, but none of the hand tools that I have tried allow me to go any further before the phillips head slips out of the screw.
Any helpful tips out there??
