DCS Light at 7,000 to 7,500 RPM

Just wondering if anybody else has had this problem before, the dcs light will come on if you are just cruising at say 55 to 60 MPH and it is at about 7,000 to 7,500 RPM? It will come on, if let off the throttle and go again it will stay out for a bit, but then it will come back on in a little bit, let off and it goes away, it is a cycle!!! I have checked all the plugs, they are picture perfect, but that light just irritates the h--- out of me! I think I have a solution, but wanted to check around and see if anybody else has had this same problem, thank you! I forgot to say that this is a 2004 ViperS.
 
Remember what the DCS does , because the system sets itself by retarding timing until detonation is not detected so the plugs would probably look ok. The causes , poor fuel and lean carburation would be the main two . Temperature and elevation also come into play .
 
Try raising your needles by 1/2 a clip and it should stop. If it still happens but is better you can try raising them 1 full clip.
 
I have the same sled, and similar problem. Although mine DCS system engages at wide open throttle. I now run Premium fuel and problem solved; leaning out I guess with regular fuel.

Does the light go off when you go above 7500 rpms?
Does this happen when you know you have good fresh gas?
Do you have any mods/pipes/head work?
The viper at 7K to 7.5K rpms is at the aggresive advanaced timing portion of the curve. That's why my viper with tripple pipes is clutched for 9100 rpms at WOT.

Hey Roy, yes I remember riding with ya, should of came up on this trip! Yes the light goes off when you go above 7500, or if you blip the throttle it will go off! It doesn't seem to matter if I use 87 octane or 92 octane, it does it all the same! This sled is totally stock, not a thing done to it other than a tempa-flow on it! Talk to you later, Rob

I agree, if 1/16 isn't enough go 1/8 turn and see if it goes away, and then see how rich you are by plugs and piston wash. Just has a little lean spot in there to get worked out.
