howling noise 20 to 30 mph then it stops

I just got back from michigan this week. This was the first time I have been riding this winter. I just put a new 1'' Hacksaw on my '00 srx this year. When I am going through slower areas at 20 to 30 mph Ihave a strange howling vibration by my feet. Could this be from the slightly larger lug track? My shocks are shot and need to be rebuilt, could this be a problem? When I put the new track in I put a new bearing in on the clutch side of the drive shaft and the other one seemed to be fine. Does any body have any ideas?
 
was the track rubbing on built up ice and snow in the tunnel - this happened to me this weekend on my viper.
 
I have clipped the lugs already and there was no ice rubing an the track as far as I could see. The thing runs great, I just don't understand why I have this problem. It sounds like I am going over a steel decked bridge if you have ever heard that before.
 
I had this same problem two weekends ago up in bruce crossing. Couldn't find the problem, thought one of my marginal snow wheels was making the vibration and noise because one has a bad bearing. Kept going. Got back to the hotel after 100 mile ride back and found that the lower center shock mount (cross shaft between the rails), between the bump stops for the w-arm on the rails, was broken. It snapped both bolts and the force of the center spring was pushing it against the rail and track, and it did some damage to my new hacksaw track. Nothing too bad, but it would've been if i would've kept going. Definately get in there and check everything out carefully.
 
check speedo side drive shaft bearing most last if 2000 miles due to dirt and crud also check bearings in chain case

I noticed the same thing at 50-55. If I'am above or below the sound is gone. The sled has 2345 miles all original parts: belt, shocks. I did not check if anything is broken. Runs great, its just the hum sound in that area?

Everything on my skid frame looks good. I have to take it out anyway to get the shocks rebuilt so I will look into it further. I do believe my cluthes are out of alinement one way or another because I put a new yamaha belt on and it squeled, but I can't imagine that would cause a howl.
 
belt squeeling after you put a new one is most likely just because its wider than the old one so it sits up higher in the secondary, effectively making it tighter. Need to readjust the deflection with a new belt.
