Was the Apex stock that got 107?
I beat two of them on topend with my SRX 700. I couldn't beat them out of the hole though, had to pass them on the topend.

Mach Z smokes anything stock....hands down.
The newer Mach Z's out there are all over the map as far as tuning. Tuned well they are very hard to beat with any stock sled.
So know one knows the top speed radar verified? Only figure I have seen is 101 in the 1/4 posted on the ski doo site. I don't expect to win just curious how fast they should be. Sounds closer then I was thinking.

Here's my story.
Raced one last saturday. It was the long(ish) track model, and the rider said that he weighed 300lbs... stock Z with the exception of clutching mods he stated.
My 2000 SRX has 7k milies on it, and is stock with the exception of the track. Even the belt has over 2k miles on it!
I ran my SRX and GPS'ed it at 106mph before he got there, so that should give you an idea as to snow conditions on the lake that day. I have ran this same sled to 114 mph on the GPS years past. I ran for over 3/4 mile on the top speed runs. My Rev 800HO only could pull 100mph on the GPS that day. I weigh 225# for comparison.
Here is the suprising part. I raced the Z fully expecting to get my A$$ handed to me, but I WON! I beat him three times, both with the wind and against the wind. They were close up to 90mph, then I moved right past at a shockingly good clip. He then said we should try a hole shot. I have a brand new 1" Camoplast track (don't remember the exact model) and am really happy with the way it hooks up on the trail. Well, I thought that this would be his race, but I won AGAIN! We had a fair start, and I never was behind... I even pulled his sled in the mid speeds (70-80mph range), then left him on top.
He must have a "slow" one, or that long track REALLY scrubs speed off.
I would have never believed it, had I not seen/raced it myself. The "Little" Yami 700 still screams in the right conditions.
wow by reading up it sounds like they don't do much over 105, I figured they were a easy 115-118 mph sled. Thanks for the post!

ALL in tuning them. As somebody already said, they aren't anything special in the average joe's hands, but with a little tuning they are rockets.

For what its worth, American Snowmobiler, Nov. 05 issue, page 22. "At our real world shootout, the Mach pulled an impressive 109 mph in the 1/4 mile and was still winding out. The Mach is at its best just before the 1000 ft. mark and really starts to to reel in and dust the other stock sleds a little beyond the 1/4 mile". Snow Goer Nov. 05 issue page 69, tested a Mach on nitrous and the 0-1000 ft speed was 96.29 in 10.83 seconds before the modification.
It all depends on the rider and the setup and conditions, even a Viper could surprise a sled or two, I have. All things being equal, the Mach will eat your little 700 Viper though, so I wouldn't talk much crap, they also handle the trails pretty good. Just my .02

That is what I was hoping for in the Mach Z, as I really wanted it to be my new sled next year. (I need a two-up for trail riding, hence my Rev800HO this year along with the SRXs). Talked to a group earlier this winter that had a well set-up Z and a couple of Apexs riding together, and the MachZ was the king of that group... all pretty well stock except for set-up.
Will probably always have an SRX tho. They are just too much fun on groomed trails and lake blasts... that and mine are high miles and not really worth anything anymore.

lets just say for a 1000 twin that sled is slow. in top end its fast but it takes a long *** time to get to top end. my buddy has one he let me ride it for a few miles and i like how it handals the trails but on the lake no way

GUYS,,,my friends 1000 z took everything dwn out on back lake in pittsburg this weekend....and wooped my rx1 real good..but I didn't have my 2000 srx with me...The question is... Can my 2000 srx with stock 2000 jetting take that 1000 if I go the 8bu-00 set up that has been posted????? As it sits right now it has stock springs and eats other stock srx's easily...maybe I have a fast one??? I'll buy the spings, weights and I have a the helix but the question is....will it at least hang with 1000z. I have ran against that 1000z but it was at 34 deg F and we go even till about 60 then 4 lengths from 60-80 and if evens back out on the top.. what do you think?????
