What is stopping a viper from going 115mph?

Just curious is it out of power, gears, too much rolling resistance, etc? Even with 120 hp its more then my little sports car I once had! I can't figure out what is the limiting factor?
 
you need to pipe it and get that HP up. is that 115 on the speedo or radar?. My 02 Viper is pushing 150 hp and the best top speed on radar is 118.
 
How much top end do piped vipers add over single piped ones? Would you really get an honest 115 mph out of a piped viper? How about a 780 piped viper with 170hp?

Just making conversation, I'm a new yamaha person (last 2 years) and honestly I think the viper/srx may have been the best sled ever made, it has the best of everything!

Yes you can get that if you take the time to set it up correctly for conditions.
 
horsepower!!!

I'm sure if you actually tried to go 125 with one you could do it with the single pipe...but you would have to go all out...speed track, low, lots of gear and perfect conditions. If you want 125 on a trail viper...you're gonna need some hp!!
 
Back from the dead cause I'm bored.

I really want to be king of the lake this year 800 and 900's will be with me, what do I have to do to make a trail sled do 120 radar mph? Here is the list so far:

Larger idlers, axle wheels, pipes/clutch kit.

Do extrovert drivers really help top speed as much as I have heard? Thanks :)
 
i think for lake running extroverts will offer very little gain. oversized wheels will be worthwhile but more power is the key! last year i was on lake gogebic with a group and we were playing around. here were the sleds and results.

2005 zr900 efi 1.375" track (pulled me like i was in mud!)
2003 pro x 700 ripsaw, 144 studs (mine, tuned well, but close to stock, pulled hard on the doos, and didnt have any trouble with the s.b.)
2005 switchback 600 144x1.25" track (didnt have a problem pulling the doos!)
2005 rev 600 sdi 1.25" track with 96 studs
2003 rev 600 carb 1" track

you can see that the more power the better they did, but the rolling resistance didnt slow a couple of us down much. MORE POWER, dont waste money on little crap like drivers!
