I'm working on a 99 500 sx which I'm trying to turn into a drag sled this wont see many trail miles because I already have other sleds.I think this is a good starting point because it's the only 500 ever built with trailing arms and the short travel rear skid which is better for drag. So far I'v done the head gasket mod, notched the reeds, and now I'm considering advancing the timing Hauck sells offset timing keyways but how much should I use? I'm also considering cutting the y pipe 1/2" I know that this works on 600's but dont know of anyone doing it on a 500 but would like to try it!!! I plan to use thunder shift clutch weights. Does anyone have any other ideas? I'm tired of not seeing any yamaha's in the 500 class drags we also race 2 srx's

you have to give it 360 deg. intake timing, mod the pistons, notching the reeds only helps case reed engines, I actually thing the carbon reeds on the stock cages was better than V Force, I don't know if I would cut the Y 1/2 maybe 1/4"
