I got wondering tonight about a thread I read recently where the discussion went along the lines of the 80 hp engine seeming more like half a 4cylinder apex than twice the 250f(due to power levels). I had a look at Yamaha's spec sheets and came away surprised a couple times.

Model/Bore/Stroke (mm)
Phazer 77/53.6
Apex 74/58 (hmm closer than I thought)
YZ250F 77/53.6 (same as the Phazer)
YZ450F 95/63.4 (95-77=18mm wider per cylinder or 36 in a twin)(1.4")
Vector 79/66.2
R1 77/53.6 (biggest surprise, that's the same as the Phazer, 250F)

I realize the 450F twinned might need more room than 1.4" but does anyone think 1.4" more will shoehorn into the FX chassis?

Just some random musings....

Wow, nice work!

I always enjoy that kind of research and mim sure alot of others do, so dont feel awkward, haha.

Thats cool, its liek half of the R1 motor, but whats the deal, I heard the R1 makes 180hp..., why isnt that int he Apex, Attak

A twin 450 will make around 80hp as well, but tons more torque. You could probabally shoehorn it in, but it is an extremely close fit, some things will have to be modiefied, and I mean EXTREMELY close clearances.
