Trying to save my sliders

Hey guys , any reply would be great. I have a 00 MM 700, it has served me well, I put a track extension kit on it, I now have a 144" camoplast predator. Now here is the prob, two kids later I hardly hit powder anymore and mostly doing trail, really wanted to keep the 2" but eating the shit out of my sliders. Nothing I do helps. I know you probably have had many threads on this problem but any help would be appreciated. Dean

Try a lower profile track like .75 or .92 and run it loose
 
Could it be that the track is so high up off the surface of the trail that very little snow is kicked up to lubricate the sliders? Some people use ice scratchers installed on the rails to scratch up snow and ice to keep the heat exchanges cold, as well as direct snow/ice to the sliders.
 
I second the ice scratchers... worked great on the trail with my 2" track but I couldn't keep them around... Kept breaking them while using reverse and forgetting to raise them...
 
I have a 151 2 inch. We have to ride trails to get to the mountains. Sometimes as far as 22 km's. I have no wheels in my skid for light weight and I use scratchers on the trail. They work great. The one time I forgot to put them down I used up about 40% of my slidders in one ride. They also keep your sled running cool on those cold hardpack mornings when no snow would normally get kicked up. The best $50 you can spend. Just don't forget to put them up once you get to deep snow or have to back up...
 
Same problem with my 01 MM700. I ended up having to go to the marginal snow wheel kit that you install at the rail bend. Works great. They have them at most yamaha dealers and MPI.
 
I got a set from mpi they mount on the front of the skid, but I believe hartman makes some that mount on the skis I will try them next!!
 
i have a 00 mm700 also and ride alot of trails i installed ice scratchers and that worked great
 
Here are some pics of the wheel kit. You can mount these little guys were ever you can fit them in about 10 minutes. Install instructions are great. You just need a drill and a couple wrenches.

The scratchers are solid metal and are under high spring tention. They can be hard to retract sometimes. My scratchers have a different angle to them. When they are retracted they hook on the top of the rails. The ones in that other link hook onto a bolt. That would worry me that they could fall off the bolt. The way I have mine is way better. Those are great pics so I will just take some of my install, cause it differs from the one shown.

scratchers and no wheels except to make the bends. Great slider wear even with a third window track.
