the motor has very similar power to the vector, but a little less low end grunt. suspension was a little hard, but I cant say that it was set up for me either. may have been set for a huge guy, not my 160 lbs. handling wasnt as nice as I thought it might be, but the test was hard to go by, only let us ride around diamon pond to keep the line moving. was quiet, a lot like a 660 turbo in that it sounds like a 4 wheeler lol! the ease with which you can make all the adjustments was fantastic, NO TOOLS!!! seat adjusts up and forward on a slide, the hadlebars can be brought towards you or away and higher, center part of the windy can be lowered or raised with ease as well. the one thing that REALLY suprised me was the lack of any vibration, was right on par with a vector, but not as nice as an apex. well done cat, I was expecting a harsh vibration through the bars and was plesantly suprised!! they also told me they will use this to replace the f cat chassis. seems dumb, but whatever I guess. they will have an f5, f6, f8, and f1000. all in this setup. hope this answers any questions you have. if not, post and I will give it a whirl ;) Eric

sounds DELICIOUS!!! I will put up a video once I get home. up in pittsburg NH right now and on REAL slow dialup. home on dsl will only take a minute ;)

nope, the line was WAY to long for a sled that doesnt apply to my style of riding. I wanted to look at one, but they had none on display. they were test riding them instead :(

There is no F1000, yet I am told.
The Yamaha lines were crazy long at times, but they did a heck of a job getting everyone through, but I did ride the Phazer early, early Friday morning. The EFI seemed to be a little off, bad mapping I think, but from a ride point of view, nothing like it on earth, that small. The freestyle doesn't stand a chance aganist this little bugger :-)

Interesting..

What would you compare the new phazer against, in performance..? Is it for example as fast as a stock viper, or alot slower?

Did it feel REALLY light and easy to ride, as they claim?

It is slower than the Viper, but for 80 ponies, it will get it. The Yamaha reps said they still need to get the correct mapping done. Those two sleds were shipped from Japan last week so we COULD have them to ride this past weekend. The reps (2 from Japan), stated that it would be all worked out by production They are also playing with it in real world enviorments as well. As far as that big a$$ suspension, it is just screaming "jump me, jump me"

It worked real well for sure. As far as the Arctic Cat, I said F1000 model, not crossfire or M1000. I knew those exsisted.

Let me give you more Ola. It is not alot slower than the Viper or SRX style sled. At times, I think it did real well. As far as comparing it to say a 500/550F it would be right there, maybe more. The real advantage is LC, EFI, and a solid 500cc 4 banger.
As far as the freestyle comparison, there is none. After riding the freestyle and then this, Ski-Doo is finished in the entry market.

It almost worries me that you compare it to the freestyle :WayCool:
To me, a Freestyle seems like one of those child sleds :Moon: Havent tried on though..

When i bought my viper this season, i thought it was almost too much to handle (piped).. Now i`m just enjoying.. :yrules: This thing rocks! I`m not into top speed at all, but i love when it runs 60mph uphill on half throttle, waiting for me to lift the skis of the ground when i clamp it!!

Liked what i saw when looking at the phazer mountain, but i must say, comparing it in performance with a 550f, makes me think it`s to weak..

I think he was saying that the freestyle doesn't compare at all to the phazer because the phazer is a grown ups sled.. Not a kiddi sled.

Regarding the Cats. The details are as follows:
F1000 2 stroke 162hp 542 w/electric start (LXR model) w/o electrc strt 518
F8 2 stroke 142hp 527 w.electric start (LXR) w/o electric strt 503
F6 2 stroke 118hp 522 w/elec. strt (LXR) " "498
Looks like the y gained somw weight and lost power in the F8 ( F7 had same hp?)
