I am installing an Expert on my Viper but I want to keep the mounting plates on the inside of the tunnel so it won't interfere with my foot grips. Can anyone tell me the EXACT procedure on how to get this done. I assume some machine work will need to be done.
Also my dumd A** bent the softness adjustment rod pulling it out of the box. I craked it when I straightened it out. I think I can get away with welding it. Anyone know how much to buy a replacement?

plate inside or out (I personaly dont see how it could possible be mounted inside of my srx, too much crap in the way) its only 3/16". the problem I ran into was the front bolt head rubbing a hole in my boots, maybe look into getting a button head allen bolt.
 
Friend of mine has an srx I am not sure what year (blue tunnel) but his are mounted on the inside, he is bringing it out so I can have a close look. I will let you know. I will try and post some pics.
I was really intrested in the mods to make it work. I know people do it.

call ad boivin direct, they are pretty good to work with for spare parts in my experience.

my reading of the instructions is that they want the plate on the outside and some stainless on the inside. my older expert only had the plate on the outside. I ended up with big grooves in the tunnel and plated. if there is a week point on the expert, its that all the load is carried by the rear shaft, so get all the suport for it you can. you might want to rivet on a couple of stainless fender washers for the front, it dons't take much load at all, only locates the skid. For the rear, get some custom plates make up that dont get in the way of your tunnel suports.
 
The skid is in and no mounting plates visible, only a couple of new bolt heads showing. It actually was not that hard to install just had to measure like 3000 times to convince myself I was doing it right. Currently snowing here so hopefully I can get a chance to try it out. I should have done this at the begining of the season. This is going to be one long summer! #$%&*
 
check those rear bolts often to be sure they stay tight. I'm fairly sure thats how I managed to slot the tunnel and break several bolts
