94 v-max 600. Wife rifes it. We went up north riding this weekend and it was the first time out with these sleds. This was the first time ever for her so she was not very fast. She was going anywhere from 20-50 MPH all day. Only went around 75 miles with alot of small breaks stopping and starting. Anyways we were about 5 mile from the trailer and stopped at a intersection and I took off and she stopped and shut off the sled because she saw the TORS light blink once. I turned around and let her ride my sled. I started hers up and no problem. I took a few fast passes to clean it out as it had been running slow all day. No light until we got back to the trailer and shut them off. We were going to drive to the resturant so I started it up and the TORS light blinked 2 times like normal and a minute later as it idled it blinked a couple times and ran like crap so I feathered the gas and it stopped. It ran fine to the resturant and then fine back to the trailer.
So what is this good for? Is it something I should keep on it or bypass like I have read? It seemed to run fine for me and it ran all day?
Also to bypass you take and diconnect the two wires and reconnect the two at the harness. Is that all?
Thanks Steve

Isn't it designed to save the motor if it was held at WOT? like if you wrecked your sled and it was upside down pinned wide open it will save your motor. or so i am told. Is this right?

Yea that and if you fall off and the throttle sticks she won't take off on ya.

it is to prevent stuck throttle situations if return spring should break or if an obstruction holds the slides open. Try loosening the throttle cable a little bit and it should go away.

Ok thanks guys. I was not sure how big of a deal this thing is? I see everyone always just bypassing it. I will check all the above and see if it helps. It went away after I hit the throtle a couple quick hits so I think maybe just something sticking or to tight like you guys said. Thanks for the help. Steve

I had a similar problem and found the throttle cable pulled out of its seating place and was puting pressure on the throttle lever. Also if you are getting low on oil the light will start blinking on acceleration ,after a while it will stay on longer-So italso lets you know to put oil in the tank.

Yeah, I wouldn't bypass it unless it get to be a problem. Then as many have done just get rid of it. Not one of Yamaha's best engineered features but it would come in handy in a tight spot.

It may be differant on a newer sled but on my 94 and the 2 96's I have they all work the same way and that is when it gets down below 1/2 tank of oil that tors light starts to blink the longer I ride the longer the light stays on.Iput a qt of oil in and the light mysteriously goes out and will not come back on until the oil level drops again.IT does flash when you start the sled and then goes out like a bulb check. The wiring is hooked up correctly too.

Wel it is not the oil thing. It was full when we left and did not put on alot of miles. Not even a whole tank of gas.
Also I think I will keep it on unless it becomes more of a issue. It can't be anything to serious as it only did it at idle. Then after hitting the throttle a couple times it went away so something may be sticking.
I think my riding is pretty much over as weather is getting warmer. So I want to take the sled and do a good cleaning and maybe look into a newer style rear skid. After she rode mine with a M-10 suspension now she wants a nicer ride. Thanks

As i said loosen the throttle cable a little and it wont do it. Cable is too tight.
