Putting a new aftermarket rear shock in my 98 v-max, any suggestions? I was a strong reliable shock, my shock now isnt totally blown but its not that great, looking for something that can hold up and will withstand if I take the g/f on the back
Thanks
Cory

the basic aftermarket shocks aren't that good. you can get a rebuildable yami shock for less than the premium aftermarket shocks like Works, or Ohlins

I have tried a few different types of shocks, the best replacement shock I have found is the RydeFX..I have installed them on my Phazer and it is a totally different ride, I am a heavy set guy and I have not bottomed out and I am not easy on this suspension, when the shocks go on my Venture I will be replacing them with RydeFX...They are somewhat expensive..I went through 3 Kimpex gold gas shocks in one season at $80 a pop..I finally bought the RydeFX for $130 and it's been 3 years no problems....Good Luck

ohlins are by far the best, but by no means are they cheap! rydefx shocksl, from what i'm told, are a good bargain for the older sleds. kimpex shocks, definetely the worst out there...
