Bought my first liquid cooled snowmobile this year along with my brother in law. We were going to plan a last of the season trip to Bancroft area this coming weekend .Forecast is well above average ( plus 5 to plus 8 celcius ) . How warm can it be to run one of these sleds in? I have a 98 v-max 700 and he has a 03 rx1. Diceman

It will be fine to run in that temps, although you will be hot, your sled wont run that much hotter. Itll feel liek it runs a little off because of the jettting, theryre jetted for -20C and its running in 5C so a little loss can be expected...
You will mostly notice this in throttle response.

It is a personal thing with me. I'm with daman, I don't like to ride when it gets much over 30.

45* and a foot of fresh snow is pretty fun. don't forget to turn off your carb heaters. depending on the year, we will have many days of warm riding like that. road crossings get beat up, but never had my sled overheat.

Outdoor temperature doesn't matter, as long as there is snow for cooling your sled. Your sleds will be harder on fuel because of the temperature, and the fact the skis will be pushing wet snow rather than floating on frozen snow. I'd rather sled in plus 10C than in -40C with no lube. I've had and seen sleds temperature light come on in -40C because of no loose snow for cooling, and have never seen the light come on when there was snow for cooling.

didn't I hear once that Japan tests sled for endurance in very warm temperatures, they just use a water covered track.

Yeah you will be fine as long as there is good snow too cool the exchangers. as someone stated if you have them turn off your car heaters. I forgot mine were on and I was having trouble at the local water crossing cause it was bogging but after i figured it out most of the bog goes away. But there will still be some bog off the line. How many of you ride with the heaters on all the time?
