Hey who made that SRX you have?

What's with that tube supporting the jack shaft - who made the heads?

Thanks

The SRX was built by Jim Zweng of MI. He ran the old SAR drag circut in your area, O/M, H/M and Open Fuel. The SRX is about 98% hand made. The bars and rear tunnel are about all thats left of the stock 76. Jim even made his own Dyno for his garage. Also did alot yamaha crank & engine work for others.

"who made the heads?"
Thats a billet aluminum flex plates thru bolted to the case, same thing under the base of the case. Engine has SSR cyls, heads, pistons, ign, hand made titanium rods, external timing adjustment (the flat stock running from the head to under the coil is timing adjustment), 220+ lbs of comp., cust. oversized cyl and case studs and head and case plates. Two sets of carbs, 49.5mm for race fuel, 44mm alcohol, switch carbs, adjust the timing and run alcohol in open fuel.

Sled has titanium drive shaft, jack shaft. All the steel front half of the sled is off and made a cust alum. front end. Cust brace that runs on the OUTSIDE of the clutchs to keep center to center dead on.

fast

Thanks for the detailed reply - excellent.

I see the jackshaft is in the stock position - did he lower the drive axle with the custom chain case?

Only strange thing - to me - is the stinger O.D. looks big for drag racing.

The dude not only made the thing trick - but he made it look good as well...or did you do that?

Yamaha secondary or Cat.

Huge - fantastic work.

Thanks

Yamahammer485 - want to trade?

Well it’s certainly not a sled Haden would ride.

Ya – it’s a 99. Here’s the deal. We had some Yamaha Canada snocross sponsorship for 99/00 after a many (many) year race and engine sabbatical. We got rid of the 500’s and 600’s and kept the Phazer.

Last weekend – the weather came to my jetting (-9) and he was hitting just over 120K on the dream meter in short time at about 7300 RPM. (0.75 track) My helmet was buffeting so he was doing good. :WayCool:

Same belt since 2000 – but I do carry a spare. That chassis XT, SX etc has huge bump steer (darting) so we relocated steering arm – changed the angle and got rid of most bump.

We have the clutching mid range for gas saving – could be much better. At 50 it’s just under 5k.

USI skis 301’s – you can see our sled on the cover of the 2000 USI brochure. They take a pounding – I’m always looking over – after a big hit – and they just keep going.

I had the factory engine specs – the only thing off was the cylinder height – so we fixed that – still runs on low test gas – but I don’t ever have it pinned long.

The engine carbs combo likes to be rich – so it is. I guess it wastes a lot.

About the only thing I’d like to do is lower the front axle to get away from that steep attack angle.

Transfer rods are from a mountain sled. However – no matter what you do – until I get the axle lowered and suspension re-located – will it transfer. Ya – I can get the skis up – but that’s just the chassis rotating around the track. No matter what you do – the front of the skid will never be lower than the back (which is weight transfer) on the SX or XT chassis. :o|

Secondary is a custom straight angle – I think 49 - from Advant – Edge Motorsports.

toydoc, I have talked to you before and no matter how many times I see it I am ALWAYS in awe of that thing!!! sweet!

"Only strange thing - to me - is the stinger O.D. looks big for drag racing."

The SRX came with 4 sets of Open Mod pipes, Aaen, Mod SSR, etc.
This set made the most HP on the dyno, so the others are hung up in the garage.

Jim also made his own SRX hood mold to make lite "one" layups (the mold came with the sled).
So the hood is also super lite hand layup. It was all black so I put the 76 Can decals on it. I like them best of all the SRX's anyway.
Thanks guys!
