Okay guys, I thought I would bring this to your attention. As many of you know, my SRX is very fast and had an undeafeated season this year up against many fast sleds. I raced uncountable F7's, 2-3 XCR 800's, 2 Mach z's, 3 Apex's, and alot of other big iron sleds and I had not been beat the entire year with the exception of our RX1 on nitrous. Well after we fixed up the V-max 4 we took it out to run against "the top dog" aka my SRX. My dad was on the V-max 4 and first we went from a dead stop. He hammered it and I thought the sled was going to flip over with that track we put in it because the skis lifted considerably and right away I noticed I am 5 sleds behind. It took longer then I expected to catch him but I did infact catch him. We then switched sleds (he outweighs me by 60 pounds). I launch out of the hole and we were basically dead even near the end of the race. We do this for a while and we realize the SRX still has the V-max by a good 3-4 mph top end. During all of these races, we were running a 47-41 helix and the RPM were only at 8300 because we were not sure if the Pipes ran at 8300 or 8800. So we went back and we swapped out the helix to a 39 straight helix to see if we could get it up to 8800 RPM. Well, we did a short race and once again he gets me out of the hole really bad and I notice this time that I am NOT CATCHING HIM. We go all the way down to the end of the lake for a very long run to see if the SRX ever catches him. Out of the hole, he gets about a 3 sled lead and The three sled lead started to expand to about 4-5 sleds by the end of our 1.5 mile run. We then switch riders and we race with him on my SRX and me on the Vmax-4. I get a huge lead in the begining and by the end of 1.5 run, I was probably 15+ sleds ahead of my SRX. This Vmax is flat hauling right now and if we took it out on flat Ice, it would probably be back to a upper 120's sled on ice. I couldn't believe my SRX got beat! True Story.
Sounds like you got the ole super tanker running very good

2000SRX - you should be running at about 8750 with those pipes - if you are jetted right, it should make 170-175 hp - sounds like you've got it pretty close now - how do you have it jetted? - are you running any race fuel? - I'm going to have me one of those bad boys for next year!

I believe the jetting is stock for right now but we are going to mess with it a little more for next year. We were only running regular fual in it at this time because it is the only fuel the station we went to had that was near our lake. Clutching should be right on because we kept seeing between 8700 and 8800. The is truly hauling the mail right now.

There is more power to be had out of it if you are only running stock jets - that track set up has to be helping alot - have fun!

Anyone know what jets should get me close to pick up this extra power?
BTW, the track is helping a lot in my opinion. I bet had both of the sleds had the same track, the race would be dead even. I also wanted to say that this race was on some pretty crappy snow because it was 40 degrees out when we raced. The sleds were just going damn fast in some slush. Speedo on the 800 buried and the speedo on the SRX would get about 117-118 in slush.

I don't want to open a can of worms like there was on V-max 4, but if you are going to jet it for optimum hp, you are going to want to run a high quality fuel - 50/50 blend of pump premium with 100 octane if it were mine - here are some specs on jetting for them pipes - http://www.vmax4.com/PSIquads.htm - they run them down to 132 on the mains for the maximum hp - take note to the octane requirements! - inferior fuel and you'll be buying pistons!
God I want a nice V-4. Anyone wanna trade a fully redone V-max 600 for a basket case 750???????

Thanks for the find, I was on that site a little bit a while back but never found that page. I don't think we are going to go as lean as 132 because When we first got these pipes, we ran 1 jet size leaner across the board and ended up melting down a piston and cylinder om premium.

The jetting/fuel issue started a whole big ugly debate on that site - even ended kind of ugly - the note about minimum 92 octane fuel is a note that is 10 years old - I think they rate the octane differently today than they did 10 years ago - but, it is like anything else, it is all in what you want to do with it - if I get one, I'll find some PSI's, jet it down and run 50/50 race fuel and just snow race it - I've got trail sleds! - by the way, those PSI's are the best bang for the buck as far as pipes go for those sleds - if you run accross any, grab them!

Yah, I know those pipes are huge money. There is a guy in northern wisconsin who bought a set of our 750 pipes and he said that he is going to begin making some pipes that are even better then the PSI's performance wise and that is why he wanted the 750's. He also wanted our 800 to look at but he will let us know when he starts working on these "better pipes"
You must be talking about "king of the Lake".

And about that fuel issue... Fuel was definately different 10 years ago. 50/50 mix of prem and race gas should be safe. But when running aftermarket pipes Digatron comes handy really fast.
ask Yammiegod 3:16 about that fuel issue. I think he has theese V4´s pretty well in hand. Atleast his setup´s rock!

Ike, that is the exact guy we sold the 750 pipes to this winter. LOL
Small world, but yes that is the guy who was talking about making these pipes.

Hey 2000srx, Would You And Your Dad Be Interested In Running A Set Of The New Pipes When I Am Done Testing Them On My Sleds? Looks Like Sledding Is Done This Year Overall So We Should Get Together Next Season And I Will Let You Guys Try A Set If You Want.
2000 srx. I am very impressed with your sled. I was wondering if you were willing to share your set up that makes your sled fly like it does with us.
Carb set up (everything=), clutch set up, gearing and which track, motor mods?
I feel that the primary on my 2002 srx with 8bus and white blue white spring engages like it had silk gloves.. tooo smootly making the sled lose the acceleration against sleds it should easily beat... thanks

2000SRX, I PMED YOU INFO THROUGH vmax4.com. !! THIS IS VERY SIMPLE. YOU BEAT YOUR SRX BECAUSE OF TWO REASONS. ONE YOU GOT THSES PIPES CLUTCHED AT THE PROPER RPM WHICH IS 8600/8800. SECOND YOU BOLTED ON A HONEST 22 H.P. WITH THESE QUADS. PRETTY HARD TO MAKE THAT UP WITH A SRX. I AM THE GUY THAT WAS IN THAT HEATED DISPUTE OVER FUEL AND PIPES THERE, BUT I WILL TELL YA EXACTLY MY POINT. YOU BETTER RUN RACE FUEL WITH THOSE QUADS '' IF '' YOU WANT THE ADVERTISED HP GAIN THAT THEY WERE DYNOED FOR. GAS TODAY SUCKS. NOW YOU CAN DO WHAT ALL THE KNOW IT ALL OVER THERE ARE DOING AND RUNNING THE STOCK 800 JETTING WITH QUADS. NOW HOW THAT MAKES SENSE, I HAVE NO IDEA. I GUESS FOR ONE TO KEEP HIS ENGINE FROM DETINATION PROBLEMS, BUT WHATS THE POINT ? I CAN GIVE YOU A CLUTCH SET-UP, A FUEL SET-UP AND A JET SET-UP AND THAT SRX WILL NOT EVER BEAT THAT VMAX4 !! 3:16 (TONY)

Huh, so now you've been beat by 2 sleds, or was it 3, I'm sure you forgot that, amazing how that happens

I am talking about this year Bill, My theory is that you were to scared to come up with us this year. lol
You knew you had some pretty stiff competition but trust me, this 800 is a little bit faster then yours (not talking about the racer). The thing took off like a rocket with that track.
When are you going to go riding with us again so we can have our rematch. Stop running from the truth, you know what will happen if we race again. lol

Oh what the chrome make it faster, like the old saying says,"if it don't go, chrome it" and you did a nice job, well guess what, mine is faster than it was when we raced, but why get it dirty now, and I have no prob eating that V4, snow on the ice now, better get out and change that track quick, and if not I always will have something for it, what you need to watch out for is the Exciter, its coming for you, did some jackstand tuning today, that should be good enough for you.
