:WayCool: Nice pictures.

Please show us some more good stuff on the "Black Beauty" V-Max in this picture.

It looks like it is in MINT condition !!

Lasse cut 3/4" off your Exciter Y pipe and then hold on tight ! ? !
Last picture a 1986 Vmax before it was widened to 42" ski stance ! It is waiting for Paint, and then a Pol. 133.5" track, flatslides, Exciter gauges, 600 struts......... :) !

I have highlighted the things I want to know a little moore about !!

Wife have a SX
but I can not see that the handle bars is wider....
Can somebody tell moore about the exhaust manifold
the y is 20mm shorter before the spigot

 Great sled !!

I see in the background that you have some more old style V-Max !

My wife already have a Exciter II SX, so I asume that the Y-pipe mod. does not regarding the SX ??

Do you mean something like this Rotax 670 Y-pipe mod ?

yes thats what i mean.In 87 yamaha themselves released a mod that would get the the ex 570 to low 90's h.p..it was porting ,mill head, cut y pipe.91 and up was a little different but the sx i believe they did this update mod.i had an sx and it worked very well.i also raced my older update ported exciter and we were about dead even up top but the sx handled and rode much better.this set up was a 650 eater too .

Any idea on how much was to be milled off the head ? I bought a new 88 Exciter and my dealer helped me it set up with Reichards Performance parts and it would play with 650's even though the motor itself was untouched ! I don't remember haveing or hearing about Yamaha update performance spec's altough I do remember their jetting, needles and Airbox updates. I know guys were talking about cutting 3/4" or 20mm which is like 1/32 over 3/4" off of their Y pipes. I need to look thru my old Dyno Tech articles !

the head gaskets are thinner on the SX, cutting the Y pipe 20mm is an auful lot, we used to cut them 1/2" to raise the power to 7750, keep in mind while the sx has a shorter Y pipe the exhaust pipe is different also.
