Engine Questions - Need Help

i was wondering if it would be a good idea to bore the engine and port and plane the heads? how much horse would i achieve do you guys figure 10hp maybe less? also is there anything else i could do to the motor while it is out? and if i do port and plane how much should i take off? thanks guys need your help on this one new to yamahas.
 
yOU KNOW WHAT,from what I have found out and some of the things I have done to my sx600,just leave the sled stock and drive her and have fun. I spent nearly 3000 bucks on my sled already and what did I really achieve. MY SPEED is still the same and nothing major has been achieved. It is best to just ust it,sell it and by a sled a liitle bit better then the last one.Sure my sled is well maintained with all the parts I replaced in it. Eventually I'll have to do rings and whatever to keep it running strong,but I am finished with spending any more on it.I am trying to blow her up,run it hard,but it won't blow man.

Your kidding...don't do that,,them sleds are awsome man!!!! :yam:

Plus you'd have to spend big $$ to get her up again........
 
just my opinion but your money would be better spent going to an srx...or putting an srx motor in that sled.......having read a lot about moding a viper...most of the guys have trouble as soon as you touch them but also say that the viper motor is bullet proof if left alone...as many on this site will tell you.....its going to hit your wallet hard to do the work and really hard if it comes apart after you done......spend the money on gas and run it WFO (wide ....... open) Rock On!

I really wonder if I could put an SRX700 engine into my SX600.What would be the problems I would encounter. Triple pipes would hit the hood probably.

I have to agree with this suggestion... Stock Yamaha sleds are extremely reliable, where some mods often place you on a very fine line of tunability.... on occasion, disaterous...

Can't say for sure how the majority of buyers view sleds with modded engines, but I for one would NOT buy one... If I buy used, it's got to be stock...

I agree, if I did the mods myself I know how they were installed and how it was treated before and after. on a sled for sale, no idea what they did and how they used it. most of the time, if it is modded it means stock wasnt fast enough and they were a little more rough with it always trying to be faster etc.
 
well i just want a little more get up and go i got beat by a 02 mxz 800 sad day for me i love yamaha and to be beat by a ski - junk just saddened me. maybe i need to do some clutching i gotter at 80 deg already maybe more? different helix? anyone on here beat a 03 firecat with their stock viper if so howd u do it? really got to put an arctic srap down cuz this guy i know has one and thinks they re untouchable and i cant stand it. lol.
