I am trading the 440 fan!

It has no power at all and gets embarassed by my sled at 18000 kms and stock power. It doesnt feel or act any lighter than mine as well.
Would you want a motor made by Fuji?
You can find a spare engine for that 500 in a second, theyre not very hard to find, I know two salvage operations that had a 500. HOWEVER, iv seen more of those 500 liq engines blown up than any other yamaha motor.

Oh thank god your trading it, sorry, must have misread.
Although these 500's arent the greatest, even stock performancewise, they really hold theyre own, even sound good. Hope you get it running good....

It ran great! but very touchy on the jetting, I am more comfortable with the yamaha's seeing I have redone my 97 SX600 Living in Kentucky Getting parts, info etc Iwould like to have 2 of the same! If the motor is just a total loss I can get a 600 for it seems these 500's break from what others here tell me!

No, actually the 500 is more reliable than the 600, as well as if we touch up the motor a little while its apart, put some extra intake ports in it, I can tell ya how to make it real fun if you want to spend a little extra time and money on it.
Okay I am a little confused.
If the piston is moving when turned over but hesitates then thats bearings.
Crank bearings could hurt the rod, rod and crank or just crank.
Wrist pin bearing could hurt the rod, or rod and piston depending how long its been ran.
If the piston isnt moving, but the engine turns over. Broke a rod or bottom side of a piston typically. This typically means reworking the cylinder if its reworking without resleaving or nicasil.
Either way, might be a easy fix, but bank on it needing $$$. 99 500 is only worth $1500.00 if lucky. I just sold a 2000 sx500r for $2000.00.
My opinion is you could probably sell that fan to a polaris nut, makes a good wife sled. Then use the cash on a runing sled. Unless he gives you plenty of cash with the deal! Just my 2 cents.

Again I live in Kentucky! To sell is a pain ITA living here! The 440 fan is a semi race sled not a good wifes sled at all! Engages at over 5500 & You have to keep it way up all the time! & then the Damn jetting! atleast every 10 degrees or you have a dog! Do a google search on a 2002 pro X 440 fan! I am done with it ! if we trade I learned one thing " A busted Yamaha is better than a running Polaris" I can fix that Yamaha there is a 500 motor on ebay right now under $250 with 2 hrs to go! I do not even like the polaris air box! Good by POO!
