Fogging

Take out the airbox, then just read the directions on the can. With the engine running and up to temp, spray shots in each cylinder carb intake consecutively for a good minute, making sure not to kill the engine. Then after about a minute of spraying into each carb, spray continuously into each carb more quickly in order to kill the engine. Keep spraying for a few seconds after the engine dies into each carb. Then its a good idea to pull the plugs and spray a little more down each cylinder. Hope that helps.

It's way too early to start fogging them, we should be riding for few more weeks . . .

Northern Ontario baby . . .

I made a one into three line so I can fog all three at the same time continually.

I have a good write up about fogging, I think it in the tech section and i think Yamaholic posted it in there for me.

Tod... pics of your contraption and link to the explanation would be nice..

I have been jamming the oil pump to full oil flow and idleing till she almost fouls out and stalls.. Perhaps I should fog correctly too.. Like the three in one idea..

Snowmobile Summer Storage

Start sled and warm it all the way up.

Drain all the gas out of the tank. I use a siphon into a 5 gal gas can. Good rule is if it has a plastic gas tank drain it dry, if it has a steel tank fill it up so it does not rust.

Start sled and run it until it stops, use the enrichener as it starts to die to keep it going.

Attach your fogger lines into the carbs. On the newer triple motors you can go in at the carb boots right into the carburetors. If you have a Phazer you can pull off the small rubber plugs that cover the brass tubs that are on the intake boots, you can then put your fogger lines over the brass tubes. If it’s a twin with the boost bottle you can remove the boost bottle and make two plugs that will fit in place of the bottle and drill a hole in each one for you fogger line.

Start spraying the fogger and start the sled. The sled will run on the fogger. Use the throttle just enough to keep the sled running. Run it until it is smoking well and let the motor slowly die as you are still spraying.

I use silicon spray all over every thing, track, bogie wheels, seat seams, hood straps (leave em unhooked), wiring, hand grips, basically all the rubber stuff.

Grease the suspension. Some people will loosen the track.

To keep the mice out put steel wool or a dryer sheet up the exhaust outlet. Put tape or a dryer sheet over the air box intake, maybe through one under the hood too.

When getting ready for that first ride of the new season, put in fresh gas and pull and pull and pull. After you have all that fogger cleaned out, install new plugs or at least clean the ones that are in there.

I don't think I can stress enough about getting all the fuel out of the system for the summer, I had worked at a dealership several years ago for several years and I cannot even begin to tell you how many carbs I have cleaned because people let the gas set in the carbs all summer. Then they wonder why the sled won’t run right. Same with bikes over the winter. The jets and passages in the small carbs are not very forgiving and the gas goes bad very quickly.

above is my cut and paste from last year.

I will have to try to get a pic of the three into one thing that i made. It is just fuel line and some sort of plastic piece that had an inlet nipple on it and three outlet nipples on it, I think I found it in the top of my tool box so who knows what it is from.

I syphoned all the gas I could out and added some stab-L. to fog I take the top of the airbox off and blast away. Moth balls help keep the critters away too, they made a nest in my seat a couple years ago. BASTARDS!

has any one ever use stabel?

I use it in all my sleds i use double strength and leave gas in the tank and
in the carbs,,Ive been doing this for many, many years in my stuff and not
one single problem ever!!! they always start right up and runs great all
season long....good stuff it works.

I have been filling my tanks to the top and adding a single dose of stab along with a good fogging every spring. When winter comes around I run that same fuel that it was stored with.
I have not had problem for over 18 years.
I took the carbs apart on one of my machines 3 years ago to see if they needed cleaning and found it to be a giant waste of my time since they were spotlessly clean inside.

Yup me too...stabil is great!!!!!!!!

I spray WD-40 all over the engine compartment-damn mice don't like the oily feel on their feet(they told me so) and they stay out of my sleds. I tell them to go see my neighbor and chew on his sleds.
