Hi!

My 2001 SX500R is making a strange sound when driving at low speed, it come from the clutch side. Its only making that noise when iam driving at low speed. I know its not the motor, because Ive tried to turn off the motor when Iam going downhill, and its stilll there. It isnt always there, but most of the time. I can feel something with my left foot, its like a hammer that strikes.

Ive taken out the ballbearings on the sec.clutch and the ballbearing on the left side of the driveaxel, and that ballbearing from the sec.clutch is fine, i dont hear anyting when iam rolling it. but the ballbearing from the driveaxel make a little noise when iam rolling it, but its not broken og damaged. so i dont think thats the problem, or iam I wrong?

What else could it be?

Thanks!

Try a new belt. My viper made a funny sound like it was ratcheting or gears slipping, blew the belt replaced it, and no more noise. Maxdlx

could have a burnt part in your belt ,, happened to me this winter

Mine is doing the same thing but I do not thinks its the belt. But then again I have no idea. Im going to pull my clutches.

Ive checked the belt, and all the ballbearings in the chaincase and the ballbearings on the clutch side. The lowest ballbearing on the clutch side seems to be bad.. Seems like the drivaxel has been spinning inside the ballbearing. its not been like this for so long, so it hasnt done any damage.
The ballbearing is slow and make a crackle sound when Iam rolling it.

but Iam not sure this is what making that strange sound.

As I told, its only there when driving at slow speed. and its not from the motor, because i tried to turn off the motor when going downhill, and it still was there.

Any other ideas?
Can it be the brake?

*Sorry for the bad english, but I hope you understand me =)

check ur heat exchanger protectors. i had a cunking sound that was bothering the heck out of me couldnt figure out what it was and then one day it was gone looked uner neeth the sled and the exchanger protector was gone. if its loose it could be claming up against the the exchager and making u feel it in ur foot well. but i would change that baring if its not moving freely should spin real easy

The heat exchanger protectors, what does they look like?
Dont think Ive got them..

The ballbearing does not spin easy, so I think Ill buy a new one.
