my 98 was different. there was no spark cutout, but made no power.

while over reving (about 1000 rpm). it would actualy go faster at half thottle than wide open

nobody said anything about a spark cutout, just heavily retarded timing, which is the case on all of the srxs after 8600.

oh i see where you got that idea. However, he just meant that the timing is so heavily retarded that it will not rev any more because it doesn't have the power to do so, so it will be putting more load on the engine than it can pull, and it will stutter.
