i jsut got an email saying a receipt from paypal. for a ravor phone. which i never bought. the email adress was an unidentified one but was service@paypal.com it had a link to cancel the payment. i clicked it. it was a bunch of BS in the web browser adress. so it asked for card number SSN and other things. instead of filling it out i checked my paypal acount. no recent transactions. so i guess it was a bunch of bull. i emailed the adress back and i got an immediate response about thanks for using customer service dont reply to this email. so idk what to think. this happened to anyone else?

Hi,
I deal with both ebay and Paypal, and I have had several of those tpyes of bogus e-mails. Just disregard them. Delete the message, and set it as junk mail if you have that option.
The only way to be for certain that it is a legitimate paypal transaction is to go to paypal.com, and then login with your user name and password. You'll see any and all transactions that you have made. Don't let the "service@paypal.com" scare you. I'd report it to paypal, just so they can look into it.
Hope that helps.

The funny thing is I received this also and I don't even have a paypal acount.
It was something like, we noticed 2 different people using your paypal account from another country like india, and I just deleted it, received it a few more times and deleted them too.
what a joke.

This is what is called "phishing." They want you to click the link and "confirm" your payment information or other account information. When you "submit" or "confirm" you jsut gave them a credit card or access to your banking information. Under no circumstances shoudl you reply; just delete the message.
You can then go to your paypal account to confirm the activity or call your bank or credit card company to confirm as well.

best thing to do is contact ebay and forward them a copy of the email. VERY IMPORTANT!!! paypal tracks them down to cut down on these so that nobody does make an honest mistake and put it in. all that i have gotten i sent to paypal. if paypal needs me, i'll log in to get ahold of them. better safe than sorry...

Forward all these to spoof@ebay.com and they will check it out for you ! If you look in My Messages in your E-Bay account and the same is not there then it didn't come from them !
Send the bogus pay pal email's to Spoof@paypal.com never click on any links in emails always go to pay pal .com and go straight to your account same with ebay emails.
Yes, unfortunately phishing is a huge problem. There are way too many unknowing internet users out there that get taken every day.
I accidently shut off my firewall for a day and got a bug immediately... Thank God for windows system restore!!

needless to say, dial the number, and a machine asks for the COMPLETE card number, and gives no other options.
