Recently I was posting in a thread where Gone Blue was looking for advice on extending a Viper. Someone PM'ed and questioned my ability to extend a sled and doubted that I had done so. In fact, I have extended and assisted in four, the last one the MXZ, with only some help in getting the drive axle back in place on that one. It is my opinion, and I am entitled to it, that a 141" extension is too long for a 136" conversion. The XC has about 8.5 to 9 inches behind the seat; the MXZ has 8". In my opinion, that is long enough. In my opinion, the reason for not having a shorter extension ( not including the Maximum one ), is the problem and expense of making a hose cover for the shorter length. As I was told at Mountain Performance, "they rarely have request for a short 136" extension; their business is longer stuff". Probably why they have "Mountain" in their name. Further to this, you can not convince me that a 136" track which will have 1.25 or 1.5 lugs will strike if you take 3" off a 144" extension, when the 144 x 2" track doesn't strike in a 144" extension. The 136" is at least 4" shorter on the ground. I would appreciate it if anyone could show me pictures where this was done. For anyone reading my post, please it's my opinion only.
