track 'veneer' peeling on the inside of the track

I have a 97 600MM with a ski-doo 136' 1.5 track. The paddles are in good condition, but the thin layer of rubber that covers the cords on the inside of the track, between the sliders and the outside edge, is blistering and peeling away in one area. Any idea what is causing this? Does the track need to be replaced or can I keep using it.

more than likely the track encountered a low snow situation, and over heated. you can send it to a carrol tech repair facility to have them repair it. (get a price quote first) or just go buy a new track. check the entire track look for missing or damaged lugs, damaged or missing track clips ect. you may have a larger problem. i would buy a new (or new used, take off) track and get some piece of mind the track wont fail on me out in the bush. ski

I am with skidooboy on this....most likely many days of riding on marginal snow, forcing heat into the track clips and fiberglass bars and causing the track to delaminate.

I am likely to buy a new/used track... any suggestions as to what to keep an eye out for?

Camoplast 1" if you want to stud or a 1 1/4" if you dont

Mr. Sled... we better get you up to beautiful British Columbia buddy...usually lots of the white stuff... I wouldn't put anything less that a 1.5" paddle on... thats whats on there now.

The current track is off a Ski-Doo, so i assume i can do that again. Can I put a track off a Polaris or, gulp, a Cat, without making any modifications to the machine?

Come to BC...your $$ goes a long way here and we got mountains!!!!

One of these days I will get to BC to ride with you guys but Yes 1 1/2 is the max you can go without a driver change.......
