Having both strip on my trip to MI want to rebuild both , What is the parts I need ? Just the plastic part that pops out when you pull? They both recoil fine , It is one of thoes " pull & fly over the back of the seat problems" Thanks Dan

hey i have bigger problems! the dealer forgot to put the recoil on my attak. all this time i have been using the electric start like a sucker! lol! seriously, i would also find out why they stripped. it sounds like they arent retracting enough. bad spring maybe?

WOW! really, never installed? I am going to order some new parts but my guess is that the plastic part is just wore out & not engageing

Plastic part? The part that engages is a little piece of steel that is pushed out when you pull, and has a little spring to pull it back in when you are not pulling. Make sure you put a little blue loctite on the nut that holds the whole thing together, have seen them come off and then you have a mess of ground up parts.

you would destroy a recoil the first time you tried to start a big four stroke, thats why they don't have one! Never had your problem. Alot of the newer recoils use plastic dogs. If it recoils fine and the dog sucks back in good when you release the cord then it would have to be the dog itself. Also look at the hub (bolted to the flywheel).
