I have been losing a little coolant for a while now and it appears to be coming out the weep hole on the bottom of the water pump.Is this a tricky job to change the seals and check everything out in there? One guy around here said you have to pull the engine to do this, is that true? Any insights on this would be greatly appreciated, I should probably do something with it before next winter.

you dont HAVE to pull the engine to do it, but in my opinion it definately makes it much easier so that you get a straight look at what you are doing, and so that you can have a much easier time driving the new seal in straight. All in all its not that bad of a job, myself and others can help you if you have any questions on exactly what to do.

I am cleaning & replacing several things once I got the exhaust off here is what you will see.

I had to replace my water pump impeller at the beginning of the season. I bought all the seals to do but did not use them as i feel you need to pull the motor to do it right.

So if you need the seals i have some minus the impeller and sealing washer for the impeller. Half price.

That's not a bad deal, because that mechanical seal isn't cheap. (neither is the impeller sealing washer for that matter).

Thanks for the help guys, is there a way to pressure test the system to make sure its the pump?Have you guys done this before you just replaced the seals? Leaks can be a funny thing at times with how coolant can be blown around.

if its coming from the weep hole its the mechanical seals. Put a dry paper towel under there or something and get the sled nice and warm by running it and you should be able to see that its coming from the weep hole.
