hi, i just bought this sled and it has a loud knocking sound coming from the cylinder, so i took the head off and checked it out. on the left side the rod is very loose at the top where it connects to the piston. there is also a little play at the bottom of the rod too. the right side has no play at all. what could be wrong?

At the top end, the bearing may be bad or the wrist pin bore in the piston may be worn. To replace the piston is not a major thing, but if the bearing is bad, the rod may also be worn which means rebuilding the crank. It will also need to be rebuilt if the crank end of the rod is truly loose. That is a major job and will be somewhat expensive.
