A guy who lives at Lake Conroe (50 miles north of Houston) saw a ball bouncing around kind of strange in the lake and went to investigate.

It turned out to be a flathead catfish who had obviously tried to swallow a basketball which became stuck in its mouth!!

The fish was totally exhausted from trying to dive, but unable to because the ball would always bring him back up to the surface The guy tried numerous times to get the ball out, but was unsuccessful. He finally had his wife cut the ball in order to deflate it and release the hungry catfish.

You probably wouldn't have believed this,

if you hadn't seen the following pictures...

Well I do not know the differerant kinds of cat fish but it is in almost every restaurant here in KY!

Hey BenderSRX, our barbuts up here dont get as big as theirs down south, well not from what iv seen, or catch.

It might even be a different type of fish from each other, because they differ so much, especially in size, not sure about it though.

Here in Ontario the Barbuts don't get very big and some places you can catch on a good day 40 to 50 barbuts. Catfish on the other hand, i've caught a 15 pounder in the front of my house on the Ottawa River. At night you can catch some big cat fish because nobody eats them

That fish is enormous!
We catch Ling, (burbot) at night time when ice fishing. They're very easy to catch, and we caught the first one by mistake when it was getting late and we didn't take the lines out from fishing for lake trout.
It's not a cat fish, but sure is an ugly looking eel type fish.

Great pics! That's something you'd see on TV.

I heard Catfish tastes pretty good.
To bad around here the best you can hope for is a 2 pound brooktrout, as far as fresh water fish go anyway.

That looks like a Flathead Catfish. They are very good to eat. There are other catfish that are good to eat also (Channel, Blue, etc.). They are farm raised in southern states.
