Well I went and ordered a full face flip up Helmet (Blue and White)with double lens electric shield. This way I can wear my eye glasses inside my helmet. The other helment I had I couldn't fit my glasses in without bending them. Also ordered Snow Grips and Slips in Yamaha Blue for my sled. Also ordered the correct accessory socket (dash mounted) for my electric visor to plug in to the proper way instead of a wire hanging under my handle bar cover to plug visor to.This will look more proper . It never ends with snowmobiling, spend the money and have a good time. You only live once.Picked up my Blue Snowmobile jacket today also.
CAN YOU FEEEEEEEEEEL IT. IT is near.

Well it was a nice day out and warm,so I decided to tackle the ski alignment today.Took me a while and a lot of cursing, but finally achieved success.I weighed the sled down with a total of my weight with gear on and a full tank of gas and oil. 170 lbs for moi and 100 lbs for gas and oil.Aligned my handle bar straight and even first and tied them down with bunggie cord each side. Also tied one on the back of the ski's to each other to take out the slack.Ran 2 string lines from back of sled to ahead of the ski's.This string just touched the track in 2 spots and continued ahead of the ski's.
Loosened all four lock nuts on the stearing arms. Took arm's out for inspection, they are reasonably in good shape and straight.Put arms back on and started the painfull adjustment of the ski's to the string, then checking toe out.Was getting close when I friggin moved the string on one side with my foot.Boy did I loose it. Approx 100 curse words came out of my mouth.
Re aligned string again and continued,,,when I happened to friggin tap one ski with my big foot .Can I say I LOST IT AGAIN,well there were about 200 curse words this time and I started to throw things. I was fuming.I eventually calmed down after 5 cigarettes. I don't know if the smoke coming out of my ears were from my rage or the cigs.
Ok I began again with strings and handle bar straight again.Continued to take my measurments and guess what, I GOT IT RIGHT this time.I ended up with about 1/4 toe out with sled weighed down. This is were I wanted it to be approx.I know I did well because I took measurements from ski tip to centre of hood ornament thingie. It is equal.Last year I was out about 1/2 inch.
Also when I sit on the seat and grip the bars,I lean out to align the trailing arm with a reference point on the back of the ski, then I look ahead at the ski and see where the trailing arm intersects. It is the same for both sides.
So I have taken 3 different measurements to verify everything is OK. I am then satisfied that I am as close as one can get at this point.
Also I have shimmed the ski's on the back of each rubber thingies which in turn put my carbides touching the floor from centre to rear of carbide. This will eliminate the darting. Worked with my old ski's before.I tightened everything up to specs. It all looks very good.I can't see a Dealer setting up the alignment even close to this. You have got to learn these things your own selfs.
Can YOU FEEL IT...It's coming soon to a place near you.......

When you're done spending $$ on your sled... keep in mind that i'm always open for donations lol. Apparently we have the same bug... it's a common thing among this crowd i hear.

I've been doing good this year, so far the only money i have been putting into the sled is to fix last year's rear suspension carnage, lol

not me, nearly new monoshock skid for the viper and all the new hardware needed to mount it. now I just need to get there
holic, what did you do to the rear skid?? and bluemonster, the alu spindle and trailing arm plugs look good
you will like them for sure!

My rear skid came back from the last ride of the year in shambles. Broken w-arm, broken lower center shock mount, bent and deeply gouged rail, bent center shock, and missing w-arm bottoming rubbers. Not cheap to fix all this, would've been cheaper finding a used skid.
