I want to buy something online and the seller wants me to send him a check in the mail for $300 then he will send me the product. Is there any way to protect my self from getting taken down the river if this seal goes bad? What have you done to protect yourself from getting ripped off?
Thanks

if you do a money order you can track the payment through the serial numbers on the money order (be sure to keep the stub) however without a receipt or proof that you did or didn't get the product its still hard to argue. you can do paypal (www.payal.com) and that way if anything goes wrong they will investigate it for you and if he doesn't follow through they will reimburse you up to $1000 i believe (maybe $10,000... not sure, you'll have to read their page) really you just collect as much info as possible (name, address, phone -check to make sure its legit) and hope they have good morals. hope that helps somewhat

if its a well known member i usually just send the money. you always need to keep all the emails and p.m.'s and make it clear that you need a tracking #. if there isnt a tracking # then they cant deny they stiffed you.
