LIFE MEMBER ONLY ONCE!!!
Well today I went out to the shed and worked on my SXR600. I drained the old anifreeze from the sled and filled her up with some new antifreeze. I mix Water Wetter with mine, helps to distribute the heat and actually keeps water cooler.Well I also noticed my exhaust gasket was leaking around the manifold. Decided to remove the bolts and remove it to check it out.The gasket is a tripple layer one,and is in good shape. It turned out a few of the bolts were not very tight and there was some blowby.Cleaned it up,cleaned out the belly pan below since it was wide open now. Re - installed the manifold and re-torqued bolts to spec. Used some loc-tite on them also. Then to my surprise,my eyes caught something. My engine mount front left side(clutch side) had 1 bolt missing and the other bolt broke off at the head, exposing a little bit of thread. I prayed I could get that thread out.Once the bracket was removed, the broken thread just turned out by finger. The other threads were ok also. Then I spotted 1 bolt in the belly pan. Search my whole place and found another bolt same length and thread. Got that fixed also.Prevenative maintenance at it's best. Checked every bolt and nut in the engine compartment and frame. Now all I have left to do is change some bushings in the mounting plate of the ski's,they are worn. Also will change the fuel filter. This I will do tommorrow.I ran the engine for a while to see if the anifreeze is circulating, and it is. Decided to check my compression at the same time. Cyl 1(clutch side) is 120 lbs. Cyl 2(centre) is 120 lbs and cyl 3(mag side) is 121 lbs. This hasn't changed since last season. Engine is tight and frankly bullet prove.

Good to see people taking care of their machines, instead of riding it for 3 years not doing a thing and wondering why it falls apart.
Now that you mentioned it I want to get mine out and throw my other cables and riser back on it!

same thing happened to my 600 vmax twin..both bolt heads broke off where the braket mounts to the engine..i thought i would have a tough time getting them out but they both twisted out with a pair of pliers..
