What is the procedure for replacing the fuel filter in gas tank. Took a coat hanger and straigtened it out to go into tank to grab gas line and filter, but line isn't long enough to pull filter thru top.I'll have to take the fitting off in the front of the tank where gas line goes, pull internal line and filter back, disconnect line, tie a wire onto it,then pull filter thru top and swap, then pull wire to get gas line back in to my fitting, connect and put the 2 bolts back on the fitting to tank. Is this correct. Only way I can figure to do it.

Got it done today. Was pretty easy.Had to do it the way I described earlier.Only problem was to try and get that crazy spring clip back on the inner hose that fits on the fitting outside the tank. It is completly a smooth circular clip that has to be expanded to go over the line. First attempt I gouged the fuel hose. Got pissed off then.Had to cut off 3/4 inch of line. Many more attempts later I got the clip over the hose. Why would they not use the same clip as on the other end where the filter goes. That clip has the 3 little tabs or horns sticking up which you can take pliers and expand it.
