Has anyone done anything different on their coil wires besides replacing the whole coil? I have a 98 SRX here that has a bad plug cap. When I unscrewed the cap I found the wire to be corroded and kinda messed up like it was replaced once before. I don't really want to cut the wire back any in fear of changing the wire resistance.
My question is has anyone spliced the wire and measured the resistance and got it right? Anyone done anything fun like put lighted plug caps on? How do you measure the resistance (from what point on the coil)?

It wont change the resistance by cutting the wire back. The coils are checked thru the small wire out thru the spark plug wire without the cap on, the cap has a resistor built in for rfi, so it doesnt interfere with the cdi unit.
You can simply cut off the damaged wire and screw the cap back on providing the wire is still long enuff to reach the plug without being stretched tight.
truckdrivers, always looking to makew things difficult.....LOL!!!!!!

Lol, what do greasy truckers know!! Lol, thats cool information to know. There should be plenty left to snip a bit off, but it DOES seem to easy, can I still put a lighted colored lazer node in the wire to make it harder?
