Maintenance: do you change your 2 stroke oil filter ?

Just curious, You know the little disk like filter under the oil tank do you change it yearly ? If you're careful about not getting debris in the tank while filling why bother ? Maybe if you change from petrol based to synthetics or change brands it would be time for a change ? I've had alot of sleds over the years and never saw one plug up.... maybe I'm just lucky ?

I wouldnt change it.

Like you said, your most likely not going to be getting any debris in the oil resevoir, so the filter should last a very long time, and it doesnt see the same use as a fuel filter would, as the sled uses and goes through several more tanks of gas before the oil resevoir is empty.

Never had a problem with the filters in our two strokes, including our 86' Bravo which ran on conventional style Yamalube for many many years, then went to Amsoil no problem.

Just pull the oil line off and see how well the oil flows. I've never seen one plug up myself.

I thought that was only a check valve, never knew it was a filter. Maxdlx
