xcr800/viper

THE XCR 800 WAS THE BEST SLED POLARIS EVER MADE. ALL DUE RESPECT TO THE CENTURION AND 600/650 INDY,s!! THIS MACHINE BASISLY HAS SEEN THE FAIT OF ALL THE CLASSIS MUSCLE SLEDS THAT WERE 800 cc TRIPLES. THE MACH Z , VMAX 4 800, SRX, THUNDERCAT, MACH 1, ZRT 800 , etc. ALL WERE AWSOME IN THEIR DAY BUT ARE LONG GONE. ALL THESE SLEDS WERE FAST AND GREAT LAKE RACERS. GO TOO A GRASS DRAG TODAY AND TELL ME HOW MANY YA SEE, NONE!!!!! THANKS TOO THE F-7. QUEBEC#1 IS CORRECT ABOUT THE GEN 11 CHASSIS XCR, FIRST THING THEY WERE LIGHTER THAN THE 99 EDGE STYLE. THIS REALLY WAS WHAT WAS AWSOME ABOUT THE SRX, IT WAS A 700 IN THIS 800 CLASS. ALL THESE SLEDS TODAY ARE GREAT ASPHALT RACING SLEDS. ALL CAN RUN IN THE 10 SECOND RANGE WITH BASIS SET-UP. (and beat the bikes, right don ) lol 3:16 (tony)

LMAO @ TONY!!!!!

Ya, they eat street bikes alive on the asphalt, any of em!!

alright well this guy seems pretty cocky about smokin me here in sept. in 500 ft. I have the suspension all done and perfected, next i'll be using 20/39 gearing and for studs i'm using 192 chiseil tooth, the old ones were no good. About the jetting I need help. I'm running from 0-1400ft of elevation and the temperature ranged from 60 in the day to 40 at night thats the temp when we race. Will 150 main jets be alright and the clip raised to the #4 position? We race at his house and then at the NEGD sept.22nd its a pretty big drag association. Any help would be greatly apprieciated, you all seem to know what your talking about. Thanks

Eric,
your gonna need to do some testing! Guy's can get you close, but testing is the way to go.

Quebec#1.... 1999 was the first year for the new motor and they rocked!!!

mrviper... Laugh all you want, tony is right, that was the best motor polaris ever put out! Hands Down!

viperxxx, as usual your misinformed, we are joking with each other from a amsnow.com post about bikes versus sleds on the asphalt, the last part of his post has nothing to do with a xcr800, go read his post again slowly so you can understand it...................geeesh. :rulez:

As I read all your post, it appears you have an awful tendency to correct people in a way that makes them feel like a lesser being. I think most would appreciate you learning how to share your knowledge in a better manner.

As I read it, ViperXXX was just saying that the 1999 engine was very powerful. You took this as an insult, which it was not.

Ya see if someone makes a point to mention someones name with a "quote" as in your doing or direct manner and replies with a sarcastic remark, and to add to it doesnt even understand what was posted, I will respond, when its my name you use. You seem to feel like its ok for you to do the same thing. Before last post, did I mention your name or your buddy triplexxx? nope.

Ya know, this is a free country, and if you dont like reading my post, simple.... dont read them.

Why is it theres a select few who always want to railroad post into stuff that has absolutely nothing to do with the post, just like your doing here. The guy asked a question about racing a buddy with a sled. People responded, some offer opinions, some offer advice, some offer nothing to do with the post and turn it into a mess. :wel:

OOOOPS, sorry, I thought you were laughing at what GOD had to say.
AS USUAL, I was wrong again. LMAO.
Nothing wrong with a heated debate.

I really don't have any set-ups for 500Fft. so I will let the others tell you what to do.
I do know this, in the short run 500ft. is probablly the best situation for you. His sled is heavy, and the proper gearing/clutching/suspension will win the race. Not raw horsepower.
Tomseal, Yamigod, Turk, and of course...MRVIPER700, should be able to help with actual tested set-ups.
Kumon guys whatcha got? Eric needs a hand!

P.S. sorry for being a post.... :postwhore

First, I'm 100% yamaha fan. I hope the viper wins and wins big.

The XCR will run and my reply was to point out they should not be taken lightly. In the right hands they win LOTS. The internet is not for yamaha owners only. Polaris has it's own helpful sites with drag set-ups just like here. Whats the odds the XCR owner is getting good info from people just like this post? I'd bet he is.

To down play the XCR is not very smart. The XCR will hook with no problem, yamaha will need some setup time.

Also didn't a XCR 800 win STK AAA OPEN and STOCK 800 last weekend in COSDRA 5.5's?

If both machines are stock , Im sorry the xcr wins hands down.
Before my viper i had a 2000 xc sp 700 witch was dead even with my friends 2003 viper , after adding a slp single and vforce and jetting clutching i was at least 3 sled lenths ahead of my friends viper.
The 2000 xcr 800 plain bone stock would crush us on every run on the lake from start to finish.

GUYS, DON (mr viper700 ) AND I HADE A LONG AND REALLY HEAD BANGING DEBATE ON AMSNOW ABOUT A WELL SET-UP MUSCLE (like the xcr ) SLED BEING ABLE TO BEAT RIDE IN STREET BIKES ON TAR. WE USED ALL TOP OF THE LINE MUSCLE SLEDS HAS A EXAMPLE. WAS NOT JUST ARE LOVE FOR YAMAHA,s. SO WHEN I POSTED THAT THE XCR PROBLEY HAD BECOME ANOTHER GREAT TAR SLED, AND COULD BE STREET BIKES, DON, KNEW WHAT I MEAN,T. I KNOW THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE VIPER VS XCR POST. IT PRETTY MUCH WAS A LAUGH DON AND I WERE HAVEING OVER THAT TOPIC. !! 3:16 (tony)

Well the Viper has slp pipes/v-force reeds/ 51/45 helix/ 20/39 gearing/ 151.3 mains with needles raised #4 position/ 192 brand NEW chisel tooths, suspension all set up correctly . with me as a 145 lb driver. The xcr has slp pipes and is in the hands of my freind which does his own testing at his house and sets it up himself. Last year it lost to an APEX across the lake but was not far behind. I belive he was only running 99 in 1000ft. Claims he had a broken motor mount. We will be racing here in a couple weeks at his place and then at NEGDS in New hampshire. I'll keep you all informed!

99 mph IN 1000 ft WITH A XCR 800 IS WAY , WAY , OFF (something not right ). DOSE SOUND LIKE THAT VIPER IS SET-UP PRETTY GOOD THOUGH!! 3:16 (tony)
