Viper Battery??

hey guys, when i bought my Viper ER last season I had the dealer reomve the electric start feature, however, the battery was left on the sled. My question is, can I remove the battery or is it required to run the power valve system or something else? I need to know this because i installed a rumble pack silencer and it does not sit right because of the location of the battery, thanks...
 
Take that thing out of there. If the electric start was removed, You are carrying around dead weight with that battery in there. Battery is not needed. The power valve operation is controlled by the CDI box and servo motor
 
nope, the battery is only there to give juice to the starter. all your lights and accessories are run from the stator. your stator charges the battery when its running. stator is kinda like an alternator in your car
 
After a few complications last year...I was informed the battery needs to be in there...or the wires need some source of power or else the Digital Display goes all
wonky...A few others said that theirs also does this when the battery goes dead...and also looking at the spec sheets on the Vipe...ER uses a buzzer....regular vipers use "3 smoothing condensers"...unsure if thats related to power or not...but there is a difference...
I would personally agree with tomseal6...and machine runs fine(without)...but the display gets "freeky"...I'd see what other responses you get...

about the buzzer.....is that the buzz that you can hear when the engine is off and the key is left on? what does the buzzer do?
 
if you like your tach, keep it in or relocate battery somehow. didnt know it will wack out the tack but the sled will run fine without it
 
Yes, it is the buzzer you hear when the engine is off, keys on... if I'm correct..I think thats the buzzer that beeps when in reverse(but not totally sure)...I'm sure if its disconnected the Tach will pop some sorta flashing light...I saw another posting here about a light weight battery and an Aluminum bracket for relocating batteries...saves somthing like 6lbs, smaller and can be moved anywhere...great for Pipe mods and shaving lbs...
 
you could probably get a much smaller battery. or figure out the differences between the ER and nonER version
 
On the wifes '01 DX 500 if you take the batt out, the tach and the gas
gauge will not work,and the back up beeper is not real loud,( not enough
juice to run it right).
