Id try and sell it back to yamaha , they could showcase a beauty like that .
If i were you i would hand over some cash to Grandma and keep the sled in your grandpa's memory.
Once in a blue moon you may find a sled with nearly 0 miles but most of the time they were stored outside and mother nature has claimed them.
Such a sled was a 1975 olympic with 250 miles a few miles from the cottage , the jerk left the sled under a spruce tree without a cover.
For 7 years i asked if i could take it off his hands, he never budged , then one summer it was gone. I asked were it was it ended up being stolen.
Good luck on your decision. (KEEP HER ! )

I am sorry, in my original description I said that it was used x-mas of 1990. It was really used in December 1989, just after it was purchased.
Thanks again,
Thanks again,
I agree with Tom, I would see if you can find a web site for collectors and display it there. This sled shouldn't be ridden!tomseal6 said:That thing belongs in a museum for display only
Good luck

That's an awesome idea! You'd have to get the Yamaha Marketing guys in on that. I'm sure they could come up with some "the old" and "the new" type campaign.
I think I'd even part with mine for a new Phazer!

I love the old Phazers-a few things:
Wait at least a month prior to putting it on eBay;too early yet for best prices. Wait until the end of Oct-begining of Nov.
Start the auction just under $2,000-psychologically it's a good move and will probably get a good bidding war going-put a reserve on it if you are thinking of a # which you won't sell it for less than you want.
I have now bought three sledsoff eBay; all Phazer IIs-two were parts sleds and one was a 1996 with less than 150 miles on it.
Love those sleds. I am also looking for a low mileage '93 Exciter-SX if anyone has a lead on one . . . I am patient

I wouldn't ride or sell that thing. It belongs in a museum.

Update
I have the sled at my house now. I would like to find information on who some collectors are. As far as contacting yamaha, I found a mail address and a phone number, but no e-mail. Haven't got around to the phone call. If anyone knows more, let me know. I am not going to ride her as of now. I have a 1995 zr580 that I just put a new lighting coil in. Hopefully I can get a good year of riding out of that one to keep me from being tempted to ride the Phazer II.
Thanks again to everyone for all the info so far.

Ask to talk to the owner of any Yamaha dealer and tell him/her what you have. Let them know you're interested in talking with Yamaha corporate folks. Trust me, they will set you up. Like someone already said, you'll probably get a new Phazer out of the situation, who knows. Non-the-less, you want to give your grandma the cash. A new Phazer will bring a little cash to her!!
