Is the GP396 a performance sled???

I am primarily interested in the GPX's and SRX's. I Have an opportunity to buy a fairly decent GP396 (engine seized, windshield missing) for around $400.00.
My question is, "In it's day, was this somewhat of a high performance sled?"

They were a good sled in there day. NO question. In there day is a relative term. compered to a GPX or the SRX. The GP 396 was built in 71. $400 for a Gp 396 would bo ok, if it ran. I think its $200 to much for that sled when it has a seized engine. Brad

Thanks for the imput. I was kind of feeling that $400.00 + shipping would be high. Shipping would probably be around $250.00 itself. I'm just getting into the vintage stuff and still trying to learn the real values of sleds.
