Hello,
Just need info on a 2001 MXZ 800 rear skid. I have my eye on one to fit into my 96 vmax 600dx. I believe it should fit, but is it worth it. Is it a long travel? How is the ride?
Has 4500kms on it and he wants $300 CND for the complete rear skid. Worth it??
Thanks for the help.

If your planning on keeping the sled awhile longer, it is definitly worth it. I installed a cat skid in my 04 Viper and love it. The biggest issue will be getting the correct mounting locations for the skid, I happend to have a Cat in the garage at the time I installed my skid, which made transfering the mounting locations alot easier.
I think I went a step further than most when determining the locations, but others have been happy with what they have come up with.
Do a search on the 4 stroke side, that where most have done skid swaps(RX 1 tons)

i would go with a 2002 and 2 or newer skid, the sc10 2 isn't that great the sc10 3 is much better
Spend some time on www.dootalk.com to learn more about that skid. Like Sno-Xr said if it is the SC10-II it is not near as good as the SC10-III. However it is way better than the original SC10 with or without ACM. Shock packages varied greatly on those skids, so the price is really dependent upon which shocks are in it.
One note to make is that the SC10 and the SC10-II have the same mounting locations, but the SC10-III is slightly (about 3/4" I think) different. If you mount a SC10-III in the previous locations without re-drilling, it will work but not as well as it was intended to.
OOPS!!!
I misquoted Sno-Xr as saying that, it was really Fear Morgan that said it, Sorry guys . . .

I just installed a 1999 skidoo ARC/ARM suspension (AD BOIVIN MADE) in my 1995 vmax 4 800 cheaper version of the Expert X, wich has the updated sprigs from AD BOIVIN, I am just waiting for the fram side doublers to come in the mail to complete installation.
