Stock vs. stock, which will win in a drag across a lake.
I've always wondered how the fastest stock sled out of the factory would fair against the New 150 and 120 four strokes. Can someone clarify this? My little bro asked me and I told him the good ole' SRX 700 would take it. Am I right?

The Apex will hand the viper its *** and it will beat the SRX out of the whole and it will be very close on topend!!!

I can confirm the apex edges out the srx7

I clutched mine last year to beat my buddys REV800Ho

well I acomplished that, but he showed up with a new APEX, and little did I know he clutched that...........
He beat me every time

Wow, I'm very surprised! So the big 4 stroke does the job on top end too eh! So then, what's faster than the APEX? I'm guessing the Doo 1000cc, and what else? What about the Doo 800's?

Hey guys theirs one thing you all forgot to mention!CONDITIONS!I have an 02 and in good conditions I'll take one every time on hard packed or glare ice.If were talking snow than I would say apex all the way because of the 1.25 ripsaw.Just look how 2000 srx killed that apex on the lake.Thats if any of you guys saw the video, which I'm sure a few did.2000 srx made this apex look slow! But like I said It all comes down to conditons!! It's that simple!

x2, with slight mods and good hook up out of the hole, I took an apex all the way, but starting in powder, he had me but not by much. I agree, conditions :2strokes:

Conditions and setup. I have both and they are neck and neck. If your racing across the lake its only fair to put an inch and a quarter track on the srx, that will slow it down some on top end. Alot of people will tell you that a well setup SRX is very hard to beat and its true, just look at 2000srx's sled. Also I think it may be easier for the average Joe to setup an SRX compared to the Apex. I like the Apex alot and all in all its a better machine, buts there's just something about the SRX that won't ever let me get rid of it.

This always happens on these kinds of threads - I think the question was "stock for stock" - now it is "stock for modded" - 2000srx admits that his sled has had some head and/or port work - wouldn't call that "stock" - we ran a stock Apex against a stock SRX last year on snow and hard pack 20+ times - result was the same every time - Apex would just edge it out!

for sure the apex will win! i have them both! and the srx is clutched ++ and the apex is stock and it takes the srx out of the hole every time!! but from the midrange and out its about the same! i agree its about contitions and tracktion, and its very hard to get the srx close to the apex in the holeshot! just my opinion..

Yeah, the question was stock vs. stock, but I like hearing about all the others anyways. So, regarding my other question... what stock sleds will beat the Apex then? I'm assuming the mighty 1000cc Ski-Doo would correct?

I went from an 01 SRX to an 06 Apex RTX. I have little doubt that the Apex would beat my SRX in a drag race. Top End, however, I think was greater on the SRX.

I would imagine Stock for Stock that the Apex would come out on top too. My sled does not have any head work to it but the exhaust port has been smoothed out but not bored any bigger. There is no doubt that if you set both of the sleds up with clutching and everything it would be an extremely good race. With the Aoex's and other sleds that I have raced, I normally get them out of the hole by a sled or two and then my top end takes over and refuses to be beat. Apex's are very good running sleds though, no doubt.

Ice or aspahlt a bone stock stock clutched me buddies 01 srx is faster than apex's on snow it's a toss up

Stock to stock I do not know. But Stock MTN Apex againest me I win. I have not ran into a well set up Apex yet so I do not know what will happen. I do know that if an Apex with a 45 year old follows me for the entire day in good powder. After I cook dinner I will probably have to help him out of his chair to the dinner table. I'm 60! The weight is a killer.

PS: I owned a Rx1 and I know a Apex is a huge improvement and I have ridden them. But it is not a boondocker sled IMO.

I just hope Yamaha makes the new Phazer a real mtn sled, 15" X 156 X 2" track, 40 more HP stock and 485#

The MTN Apex is the sled im going to get if i come to colorado or washigton. I have heard alot of good things about it. I know its heavier than the mtn viper but makes alot more HP than a viper without pipes. I guess its all about how you ride it. Im 27 Y/O so it wouldnt kill me to try and throw it around all day. Im starting to like the apex more and more but still will never sell my SRX, even if it had to sit in the shed for years and just start it alot.
