aaen srx pipes???
I wondering how the aaen pipes on a srx perform?? I seen they save around -25lbs over stock pipes and gain +8 hp in the bottom and mid range...
I want the sled louder and shed some weight off the front end.
I will be doing alot of trail riding and ditch bangin, but not a whole lot of lake runs. Anybody have any expierience with them??
i did some searching but didnt find much. thanks

I don't believe any of the pipes out there will be worth putting on. I've heard pipes can actually loose hp. If you want more noise just buy a can for it, but you may loose some or gain nothing but noise........

Pipes do boost power but on a srx i dont think it would be worth the money.
On the other hand a viper would benifit greatly with tripple pipes.
Aaen pipes are from what ive been told the lease loud out their.
They also tend to burn out and rust after time .

You will save weight with a different can but I would be surprised if you could even save 10 lbs in the pipes themself.

most of my riding is between 60-105mph or so. Rich, pretty mean sounding pipes, i take it that the pipes improve the low and midrange?? I looking at a set for $300.

yes you can really feel the pull.i dont know if i would spend $300.not my money though
that video sounds louder also because it was on the ice.on snow they are nice sounding without pissing neighbors off.

so if i ride between 60-100mph range on the trail, these would be a good set of pipes over the stock 98' pipes....
Do you recall what type of clutching you ran with these pipes Rich?

with a 1998-2000 srx you should put on the 2001-2002 pipes, i hear they add hp but don't know what. maybe with the weight issue, this is sumthing i'm doing now, i took all the hood subframe stuff off and switched to using just hood straps in the front outside corners. i also took the bumper off when the subframe came out as well.

I have an '02 SRX and was told to leave the stock pipes on-that they were the best for the machine- I too wanted to drop soem Aaens on and the guy convinced me to stay stock; actually CB Performance-perhaps they will catch this and weigh in on the subject?
For the record; I love that shop and am looking forward to getting their whoel front-end suspesion kit installed soon!!! CB rocks!!!

lol, thanks bigman76
As for the pipes, they do rob a bit off of the top speed as I noticed and The bottom and midrange felt about the same. However, these pipes will shave 22 pounds off the front end of your sled (weighed the difference myself). The sound alot meaner then the stock pipes too. If you do not mind loosing your topend, I recommend these pipes to you. Let me know if there is anything else you would like to know. Thanks

there you go folks; right fromt eh source. Considering I put a few punds on; maybe it's worth the top end loss to lighten the load

lose top end but lose 22pounds?? sounds like only good for short drags 500-600 ft
might see a noticeable difference in 500 feet being 22LBS lighter. More competitive with the F-7 Other wise, id use the stock pipes for riding and doing long races
Bruce, Whats so different about these pipes that cause the top-end loss. Is there any way that can be countered?

10-4 on that mrviper is right.
Lose the silencer, and get a bender can. No power loss with bender can so i hear.
Thats like shaving 15 pounds.
P.S. sounds kick a$$ too!

The stock silencer weighs in at about 17 pounds if I remember right, thing is damn heavy! The pipes are substantially lighter then the stock pipes though. Even with the elongated pipes because they have the silencers on them already, the aaen pipes with silencers are 5 pounds lighter then the stock pipes alone!

The AAen pipes don't build power on the SRX, they lose hp. There is only one brand of pipes that ever built power on an SRX at stock rpm's, and that is PowerInc., but good luck finding a set. They are out of business, and have been for quite a while. They also don't build enough power to make it worth while. They only increase about 5 hp, and that's not nearly worth the $500 or whatever it would cost for a used set in my books. If you want to spin your motor at a higher RPM, you can build power with Hauck's pipes, but you also need a their high rpm CDI, or a viper CDI will do the trick as well. Oh, and i'm not sure how 10000 rpm would be very trailable.

Have you noticed a power gain with your power Inc's? Also, how does bender do in terms of power. The main reason I would ever get another set of pipes on my sled besides stock is for equal or better power (aka Power Inc), lighter weight, better sounds, and potentially better looks if they get ceramic coated. How much less do you think the pipes weigh then the stockers, did they ever list it? Please let me know. Thanks
