I'm looking to get rid of my old HJC helmet, and choko jacket and step into something new. Whats your recommendation on a helmet, and jacket/bibs? I prefer not having a heated shield, but would if I had to. I'm also hoping for a lighter thinner jacket than my choko, but just as warm. Whats your opinion?

As for your jacket keep the Choko its warm and thats what counts in the end.
Yea the chokos warm, but bulkier than hell! I see jackets out there much thinner. The choko is a great jacket, but its getting beat up, and its time to upgrade. As for the helmet, I do like the heated shield, but I just thought that if I could get away from always plugging in, that would be nice.
I have the Yamaha FXR race jacket and bibs and they work great in all conditions. Light, warm and look good. As for your helmet, I have a HJC Tucker design and I bought a ski-doo modular to try this year. I hear good things about them.

Id go with a MX helmet. Just make sure you get one with a breathguard so that you nose doesnt get cold. Ive worn MX helmets for the past 5 years and have had no problems with my goggles fogging up and really havent had to worry about being cold (as long as I had a helmet with a breathguard).
I recently bought a Thor Force helmet that I use for MX racing (I MX race my quad in the summer). It has a very nice roost guard built into the helmet that looks like it would go a good job deflection wind away from your nose, I may try that if I go snowmobiling this winter. (My sled is for sale right now, so Im unsure if I even will be with a sled this winter)

Check out an Arctic Cat TXI helmet. It is a full face helmet with shield that it like wearing an MX helmet and goggles. Its a very light weight helmet and even has a cool built in visor. I picked up a black one with the heat sheild at the Snow Show last year for $130.00.
You can get some really good deals on left over Reima jackets. Since Scott bought Reima last year, I have seen some blow out prices on Reima gear. I bought a Reima Warrior jacket with the removable lining last year for $125.00.
I was really happy with this new gear last season.

Yeah...I wanna get Reima Jacket myself..and I use an HJC flip up Modular with a heated shield...I had soo many guys say the Modular styles sucks..etc...but I never had a fog up...and wear my glasses with em...The beauty is you can flip it up so they can see your mouth when talking...or take a sip of water or a bite of jerky while on teh go...I'll never go back to a standard helmet unless its MX helmet for warmer days...(they just look cool)

Bombadier (skidoo's) modulier is outstanding, even with glasses. very hard to fog up and if you do just crack open the shield a tiny bit and clears right away. It is great for getting water, snacking or having a conversation while keeping your head dry and warm. The only down side is weight of helmet. For clothing, when mtn riding I'm sometimes digging in snow above my a$$. I like KLIM, it is light weight, always a dry butt and tough as nails.

yamaha sno force helmet. light, cheap and very rarely fogs. if the sno force fogs, so is every other helmet in your group too.

I had a SnoForce 3 last year and a SnowForce 2 the year before that and both fogged.
My MX helmets with goggles have never fogged on me, as long as I kept moving.
FXR also makes a helmet that you can convert from a fullface with a flip-up visor to a MX helmet.

Get yourself a BV2S helmet.
I suggest you pick yourself up a BV2S modular.
Super comfortable and the built in tinted windshield seals the deal.
Buy one for you and your wife and enjoy!
