I did a search and am thinking about installing a clutch kit. I could not find anything on a 1997 vmax 600 xtc. Any suggestions what I may exactly need to do this? Thank you. Oh and do dealers do these types of things if I think it is way over my head? Or has anyone had a dealer do this to their sled and how did it turn out?
Or does this year really not need it leave it alone lol?

Just wait for one of the big guys to give you a recommendation and go out and buy the parts... most of the time they are just OEM yamaha parts anyway so you can go to your dealer and get him to order you your list. It's simple to install everything... if you can use a wrench... you can do this. The hard part is tuning, but if one of the big guys chimes in here their experienced guess will get you close enough.
Thanks. I did read the long thread with mrviper i think his name was. Wow That guy knew his stuff. Maybe I will drive down to Ohio and pay him to do it for me lol
did yamaha not sell many of these sleds seems hard to find info.
Or were they just built so good there were never any problems lol.

all you need to do is identify a sled with the same motor in the tec pages. the clutching should be the same if not very close. in my case it was vmaxjhons vmax500 set up that i put on my sxr 500. some times the gearing is different as well but you shoud be able to get the clutching close enough so your happy.
Thanks i found a 96 600 specs I may try that when i decide to take up this task. I am afraid if I do it this year I wont be ridin lol
